The lights are on
lets see if im able to explain this. (sorry for the broke english)Seeing that some
AAA games are starting to make its way to WiiU (Batman: Arkham Origins,
Resident Evil: Revelations HD, Injustice: God Among Us, Assassin's
Creed IV: Black Flag, ans Splinter Cell: Blacklist). Some of them
(Revelation and Blacklist), are said to have gameplay mechanic involving
the use of the WiiU's Gamepad (not only Off Screen Play). So so you guys think future reviews should have any comment about how much those mechanics in the Gamepad
affect the experience (either good or bad) compared to the "Traditional"
way you could play on PS3 and XB360.This could be a good point
to mention on the review cause, it could affect some people decision on
Which port of the game to buy in case they own more than 1 console (Like
in the case were Bayonetta was heavily broken on the PS3 port, compared
to the XB360 one.)
This is a good point. There are some games that make very good usage of the gamepad's screen but very few reviews mention it. I can't cite specific examples off the top of my head but I have seen a few reviews be copy & pasted right from the PS3 or Xbox 360 review. Not necessarily on GI, but just saying.
The wiiu is a very unique system and i suppose in that it can make it harder to review for. Seeing as you could review a ps3 & xbox game in one review because usually they're not very different from each other besides button layout. since the wiiu's gamepad is very different from the other console controllers you have to do a separate review which takes more time and can have a different experience that from another system. so i really think they should separate the review but it may not be the easiest thing to do.
and thats my point, PS360 are no longer the only one getting multiplat.what if Rayman Legend plays far way better on WiiU do the the gamepad but GI only try it on PS360? no metion aboutthe touch screen features. as far as I remember, the only site that made a a site note to say that the Gamepad could be use to display combos in Injustice was IGN.
yeah also you have to throw in the factor of multiple controllers like the pro controller vs the gamepad.
It wouldn't be that hard too simply add in a notation at the bottom for any gamepad specific functionality or features. Don't need a totally separate review unless the game is vastly different for some reason. I think simply noting the difference at the bottom would be fine.
This whole discussion is an utter waste of time. GI already has a system in place called, "the edge" that they use to talk about the differences between consoles and which one has a leg up. If the game is so drastically different that it's practically a different game than they do a separate review for it. It's been that way for around 10 years now.
