And other platforms.... I'm really bumbed about Super Smash Bros Brawl, I know i could not find much people online to play with, not as much as when i got the game. I still like to play with friends that stay over night and stuff. Another game I'm sad to see Online Services leave is for Mario Kart Wii. I played that game with friends AND family, we had a great time online, taking turns, playing together, and cheering each other on. I don't know if you guys are really sad about this, but i know i am :(
If you also want to read the "Reading" from the site, the source is: http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/vyWpoM6CBIe6FjW8NIY7bvzOrgBURhzw
Or you can read it here:
As of May 20, 2014, certain online functionality offered through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will no longer be accessible. The discontinued services include online play, matchmaking and leaderboards for many Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games. For a comprehensive list of games and services that are affected, please check http://support.nintendo.com/servicesupdate. Users can still play the games in offline mode, which continues to offer a rich game-play experience.
Online play for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games will be unaffected (aside from the Wii mode on Wii U and Nintendo DS games on Nintendo 3DS family systems). Other online functionality, such as access to the Wii Shop Channel, the Nintendo DSi Shop and video-on-demand services, are also not affected at this time.
We at Nintendo sincerely thank our fans for their continued support of our company’s legacy systems. Your enthusiasm for games made for these systems speaks to their longevity, and the passion of Nintendo fans.
I never played a Wii game online, but I had a blast playing the likes of Mario Kart DS and Metroid Prime Hunters against others across the world. It's a shame I won't get the chance any more.
It's really a shame, I just hope other games like Just Dance won't end their online services.
I had some fun times with the Wii online first game that comes to mind is Goldeneye and Mario Kart.
