The lights are on
I am so frustrated.... I'm not sure if it's my wall outlets or the power cord itself but the cord fit very loosely in the socket. So I was close to halfway through the update and the cord got nudge which moved it out of the socket just enough to lose console power and it bricked the console.
This is awful. Take it back to gamestop and get it checked out. I really don't know what to say for ya pal, they should be able to replace your console though supplies tend to be low. Especially with Nintendo who prefer undersupplying than putting in more than needed.

ouch Waiting for the release to have this happen probably before you got a chance to play it. You may want to try customer service, if Nintendo did the console correctly there is a bare image of the os on the system and by holding down the face buttons in a certain order it should be able to reflash that to the hard drive. I know the PS3 has this feature, and I think the 360 does also.
Just curious, did it accidental become unplugged or did you try powering it off since you thought it had froze?
We're sorta like 7-Eleven. We're not always doing business, but we're always open.

It accidentally became unplugged. I was already aware of the bricking issue before I started my update so I was trying to be extra careful about avoiding it. Unfortunately I didn't succeed in doing so. Now I have to wait 2 weeks (maybe longer) for a repair.
and that is why i had mine sung before doing any thing
ummm what is "bricked"?? nvm I googled it....
Its your wall out let that needs to be fixed. There dont cost alot like 4-10 bucks and maybe 10 min to change but please look up how to and other stuff before doing it. Remember to turn off the breaker or fuse for your home be for you do any electrical work (or ask a knowing friend or family member).
Saw this happen to another guy, he ended up having to send it into Nintendo for repair on launch day, kind of funny but very sad at the same time. I feel your pain though, had a launch 360 which red-ringed within the first month after I bought it.
