The lights are on
I have the Japanese version and decided to post some impressions. I'll post more later. Since my Japanese is weak, I have no idea what the story is about.
Pros: great battle system
The menus and cut scenes are stunning
Reminds me a lot of Tales of Symphonia as far as the battle system goes
Cons: in game graphics look like @ss. Watching the cut scenes and then going back to the game is huge downgrade....graphically.
is it open battle system like Tales? It said in GI that it was term base. If it's like Tales I'll be buying this
'Great battlesystem'? I would really like to here more about that. As long as the story is decent I'll prolly be picking this up.

Tell us more! I saw screens of this in a GI not to long ago, it looked promising.
Or can you post some pics of your in game footage?
I don't really care if the game looks bad in game, the game itself looks amazing.
So, IGN's posted the first five minutes of the game on it's site (computer is too laggy right now to extract a link).
So, the voice of the main character sucks from what's heard in the trailer, and the music starts off good, but takes quite a step down in quality.
Also, yeah. Noticible difference between the great cutscenes and the weaker in-game graphics.
I just hope the story and gameplay are good...it would be bearable then.
Found this at Kotaku today:

The game is looking very good. But the comments in that Kotaku article are pretty spot on. Ignition sucks with localization. The voices I've heard are terrible. Hopefully, it won't ruin the whole experience, but it's probably going to affect it for me.
Yeah I read that comment about the voice work too, which was kind of discouraging but if this game does play like a Tales game (I keep hearing the battle system is great) I'm all over it in spite of bad voice work.
What the hell? The game was supposed to be out today and GameStop is listing it as shipping next month and Ignition's site is unclear.
I know this game is pretty low profile, especially now that we've heard the voices, but I mean come on. I thought people learned their mistakes when Valve delayed Half Life 2...
thanks for that link tanooki. I am still up to try out this game when it comes out. It looks promising, it is one of the only RPG's I know of on Wii. I like the art style, and the battle sequences seem like they could be really cool. I'm not worried about bad voice acting, stuff like that doesn't merit purchases for me.
New release date is July 20 according to this:

Well here are the first review scores I've come across; a 7.5 from Nintendo Power and a 77/100 from RPGFan:

Going to check out that RPGFand review now.
I picked up the english version of this game. The voice acting is horrible to say the least. Why can't they just release the game with Japanese voice work and english sub titles. On a side note, I let me Japanese friend play Uncharted 2 with the Japanee voice work turned on. She said it was pretty unconvincing and wanted the english voice work wth Japanese subtitles.
Yakuza 3 did it right. Subtitles are much, much better than crap voiceovers.
This signature will remain unchanged until I stop going insane.
