The lights are on
Everybody knows that GameStop has FREE Monster Hunter Tri demo disks for costumers to pick up. But talk around the internet is that some GameStop employees have been denying people the free disk and instead have stated that you must reserve the game in order to get it.
This has happened all over. I have experienced this first hand the last Tuesday. And I'm not the only one, check this article out from nintendo world report
http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/editorialArt.cfm?artid=22770
If you have also had this problem, sound off!
of course i dont see why we didnt do it earlier. sure free stuff is good but whats the point. preorder the game for just 5 dollars and get the demo disc. They cant really give away a free demo disc to tons of customers. it be like the god of war demo they had if you preorded. say back when it first started we gave free disc for the game. You might just walk in grab a demo disc and leave and never think to buy the game again or even try to sell it *big no no by gamestop* By preordering the customer is more than likely to get the game when its released.
Everybody dance now
its suppose to be free! heres a quote from Capcom's website
"Second, and most important: the Monster Hunter Tri demo (which will be available to pick up in Gamestop stores starting March 8th) will be free to all. No pre-order required. Just head on over to Gamestop on that date and pick it up. If you like it, then we can hope that you'll pre-order it :-)"
check it out yourself www.capcom-unity.com/.../monster_hunter_tri_demo__pre-order_clarification
i dont need to check it out i work at gamestop i know what we do. some chains will choose to make you preorder in thier store if they have issues of idoits as i said going in picking up the demo disc and trying to sell online. thats one reason gamestop cannot give away poster they hang up in stores to regular customers.
It has nothing to do with people trying to sale them online. Each GameStop only gets 30 disks, my GameStop still had 27, and how would they know if those 3 costumers were trying to resale them. The demo is not a t-shirt, it's not an accessory, it's not a toy, and it's not a poster, it's a disk that cost less than half a penny to make and was designed for the soul purpose of being free.
It comes down to this, GameStop employees are evaluated by how many Edge cards and how many preorders they can get you to buy, its how they get promoted and get more hours.Thats why they are always asking you if you have an Edge card or if you'd like to preorder a game. It comes down to greed, they are just trying to con you into preordering the game.
And again, the official word from Capcom itself is "will be free to all. No pre-order required."
This is definitely weird........ nintendo world report is a pretty reliable website
screw gamestop. but not its subsidarys ;-p

I got the demo, for free. I pre-ordered the game, too. Mainly for the half priced CCP. :)
Currently playing: Modern Warfare 2, Resident Evil 5, New Vegas, Halo Reach, Bulletstorm
Add me on XBL: Pyr0CheeZeCake (that's a zero)
The Freeman Returns 2012. I'll give it hope for another year...
I understand were your coming from I work at gamestop and the rules are rules sadly if we don't get a certain percentage 3 weeks in a row we get written up and then the next week it happens = termination
I got mine for free. I even asked if I had to preorder the game to get it and the guy said I didn't. So I guess I'm one of the people that got a nice employee.
Gamestops aren't all owned by the same person. This thing is prolly only limited to certain stores. BTW that sux gamergirl, they will fire you just for not selling enough preorders?
Suda51 Group
oh yea gamergirl i forgot you worked at gamestop to. yea our manager gets scary if we dont get out numbers
Man... now I feel kinda guilty never pre-ordering a game.... well, I'm over it
The problem here is that the demo should have either been in a disk with a magazine, or made online for people to download. Even if there was a site where the demo disk could be mailed to the person that would be fine. The reason you shouldn't force pre-order is:
1. When it comes to God of War III, the reason you have to pre-order for the demo is because if your looking for a demo of the gameplay you pick up one of the previous games. The demo you get for GoW III is basically beginning plotpoints.
2. The reason for most demos is to provide gameplay to the player in order to educate the player so they can decide whether or not to put forth the money to invest in the game.
3. There are always going to be people who abuse the system. Whether it be behind the counter forcing people to pre-order, or people in front of the counter grabbing nothing but a demo and walking out.
So then, what can be done?
GameStop Employees:
1. When you see someone interested in the game, tell them a little about it, or have the demo ready to play at the store. Maybe this will satiate thier interest.
2. Always ask if they are going to pre-order. If they say yes, ask them to do it right then, and tell them they can get it out of the way. If they want the demo disk let them take it, but ask if they would be willing to bring it back when they pick up the game.
If they say no, they don't want to pre-order it, then ask them why they want the disk. If they say they are on the fence, tell them they can pre-order anytime, and you would appreciate it if they would be willing to bring the demo back when they choose not to (with the reasoning that if it isn't good why keep the demo disk) or when they want to pre-order. Chances are, if that person is a gamer, you'll be getting the demo disk back.
Gamers:
Demo Disks are not unlimited and are designed to help you make a decision in your investments. You can do your part by:
1. If you know for a fact your not going to get the game, don't get the demo.
2. If you are interested and want to check the demo out, don't feel threatened if the GameStop employee asks you if you want to pre-order it. They have numbers to fill, they are just doing thier job. If it wasn't for them you wouldn't have access to the demo anyway.
3. Bring the Demo back when your done. If you find yourself now getting the game because of the demo, bring back the demo disk when you pre-order. If you wanted to keep it until the game comes out, at least bring it back when you pick up the game. Once you have the game, you won't need the demo. If you decided you don't want the game, your not going to need the demo anyway, so bring it back the next time you browse the GameStop Store.
If everyone can follows these easy and logical curtesies, everyone can be happy!
(P.S. If your thinking about getting the demo off of Ebay, just go to your local gamestop store. If everyone is following the guidelines there will be a demo waiting for you for free. Don't pay for free items!)
yup it's really dumb all cuz our DMs want their bonuses. Of course they got me working 6 days a week now. I give the discs to customers who have wii games and want something a little more intense
