Is it worth getting multiple consoles?

  • I find the Wii's best use is as a complementary console to one of the other 3 major consoles. Depending on your current disposition on the Wii, I'd say keep it as long as you have games that you can see yourself playing every now and again. You can always just keep saving for a PS3.

  • YES IT IS. If you only have one or two consoles, you're missing out. Go ahead and keep the Wii, make sure you play all the great games there, and hopefully another gem or two will come out before the Wii U. DEFINITELY get a PS3 for the awesome exclusives. Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and more you'll miss if you don't get one. I'd get a 360 as well because the interface is more user friendly, and you have Halo, Fable, Gear of War, and Forza to play. I'd get my mlticonsole games on the 360 too.

For awhile i have been wanting to buy a ps3, im half way there and i have a crap load of nintendo stuff that will come to at least $100 bucks. What i want to know is if it's worth keeping my wii and also getting a ps3, or if i should just trash the wii and forget about nintendo.

You might as well keep the Wii, especially if you never snagged some of it's more interesting and entertaining exclusives, like MadWorld, Dead Space Extraction, Deadly Creatures, etc.  Plus, Xenoblade and Last Story are finally coming to the thing.

The Wii is easiest to enjoy when you have another console, such as the Xbox 360 or PS3, sitting next to it to give you an understanding of the best use of the Wii. Once you have an HD console to compare it to, then you'll see what truly makes the system special, and you'll truly understand it's worth.

Frankly, though, I'd go Xbox 360 over a PS3.  The PS3 managed to get some of the Wii's better exclusives (HotD: Overkill and the Resident Evil Chronicles games, to name a few), but beyond that I personally prefer the Xbox 360.  The menu interface is cleaner, and the controller is vastly better--especially when comparing the slippery, crappy "triggers" on the controllers (your finger naturally slides off the L2 and R2 buttons on the PS3 controller making them feel loose and unreliable).  Plus, it handles multiplayer, player profiles, and Achievements better than the PS3 does.  For one thing, the PS3 doesn't allow more than one profile to be signed in at a time, which tends to put a damper on couched co-op sessions.

And aside from Uncharted and God of War, I think the Xbox 360 has better exclusives--Halo, Gears of War, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Fable, almost anything from Twisted Pixel--and for any Nintendo fans, it's the only place to get anything from Rare--when they bother to offer something worthwhile.  But hey, if you want the original Perfect Dark, it was remastered in HD for the XBLA.

  • Wii U. Get the good 3rd Party support, use your Wii remotes in Wii U games, use the bundled Wii U remote, get the good 1st party stuff, and be happy. Nintendo Network looks very promising as well. Or get PS3, have your PS3 outdated in 2-3 years, make the most out of Uncharted, Infamous, etc. and get it now instead of later.

  • I currently own Wii, Gamecube, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC games. And yes, it's totally worth it. To expand one's choices in games is better than simply running out of options on one Brand Console. I suggest to simply keep the Wii and get the PS3. I did the same

  • I feel the need to point out that it's generally not worth getting multiple consoles unless you're a really dedicated, dare I say, hardcore gamer.

I myself have the Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, DS, 3DS, and PSP.  I'm a collector and a huge gamer.

But when you get right down to it, there's almost no reason to have both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 unless you're like me.  After all, 90-95% of the games on the HD consoles are multi-platform titles you can get anywhere.

The real question is if it's worth having one of those along with the Wii, and in that case, the answer is a "yes," but again--only if you're quite a bit closer to being a serious gamer than the type of person who bought the Wii for a) just Nintendo's stuff, indicating a closed-mind/fear-of-change or b) a family looking into video games for the first time as a kind of family recreation/entertainment piece.

If your multiple consoles are an Xbox 360 and a PS3, then you're missing out on a lot of good stuff only the Wii offered.  You're trying to be a gamer, but honestly, without the Wii, you can't be.  Believe it or not, there was a wealth of interesting "core" games on the thing.

  • I'll keep it short: It is worth it, if you feel you are any of the following;

    1. A Retro Gamer

    2. A Video Game Collector

    3. A Hardcore Gamer

    $. A Completionist

If you are one, or two, or all of the above, then there are at least 1,000,000 inarguable reasons to have two or more gaming consoles -which includes handhelds.

If you are a casual gamer or a fanboy, then go ahead and stick with a single console or handheld. At least you'll have more money in your savings.

As for me, I'm saving up for a Wii U, seeing how awesome its gonna be. I already got a 3DS. Not getting a Vita, because I see no point.

  • Before this continues people must know that I am not gonna bother with the xbox since-

    A-Almost all same games

B-Have to pay for online service

C-My friends have all ps3s. absolutely no xbox

D-How did an xbox become part of this anyway? this is about keeping my wii or getting rid of it for a ps3.

E-This isn't to anybody. Just the fanboys who somehow missed the fact it never says xbox

F-Im not hating, i love all the peoples.

  • i just verified the original. im looking for split second thoughts instead of well thought out because to me if your initial though of it isn't good that means that you already found something wrong.
