The lights are on
I'm generally a PC gamer, and on occasions I play my xbox but I decided to pass up the Wii when it released.
Now I'm considering buying one for one sole purpose-Skyward Sword.
As a child, I grew up playing Nintendo consoles such as the N64 and Gamecube. The legend of Zelda was my favorite game, I played it everyday. After seeing how well rated Skyward Sword was, I wanted to play it for myself. I feel bad that I'm missing out on not only the biggest video game franchise of all time, but one of my fondest childhood memories as well. This is my problem though. I don't like spending a lot of money, but if I do I want to get my money's worth. I really want to be able to play Skyward Sword, but I don't want to spend loads just to do so.So my question is this; what titles make the Wii stand out? What other games should I buy along with Skyward Sword to get my money's worth from the console?
P.S. I was never big on Final Fantasy-like JRPGS, so please omit those titles :)
Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country Returns, The New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are some pretty great Wii games.
Thanks, any good third-party titles I should know about?
Spider-Man-Web of Shadows is a great game and this version has costumes.
Deadly creatures, mad world, no mote heroes, all good and third party. I used to love Nintendo and zelda a lot, but I found skyward sword to be lackluster, though not near as bad as twilight princess, so I wouldn't jump in with too high of an expectation.
Thanks for the list of third party titles.
Really? What made it feel that way?
By the way I though The Twilight Princess was an excellent game :P
I'm just gonna say that I thought Skyward Sword is the best Zelda game yet and if you liked Twilight Princess like me then you should like that. You really shouldn't buy a Wii just for Skyward Sword though. I'm not going to list any first party but I will list amazing third party agmes not listed here yet: Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Sin & Punishment, Monster Hunter Tri, and Trauma Center are all games I loved and games you should try
Well you play one zelda game (PIC) you've played them all, save a few (majora's mask, and windwaker). Besides, teasing me with a warewolf only to find out that some emo little cuntrag makes you herbitch during the entirety of said warewolf sequences rather ruined it for me, and skyward sword was released to close to skyrim for me to care enough to play it through.
However I did just find out that the WiiU will be backwards compatible, so you should probably just wait for that to release and go back and buy all of the worth while Wii games at reduced prices.
Another great thrid party game is House of the Dead Overkill. Start with the amazing first party ones, though
One died in India. Three was tracked down in Brazil. I am the only one left. I am The Second Musketeer
You shouldn't. Look, there's a thing called Wii U.
Honestly, the only reason you should shell out money to buy a Wii if you're strapped for cash is almost exclusively so you can play the first party titles. I personally, and most hardcore gamers I know that have one, got it solely so I can play all the great Nintendo franchise games. In my experience the third party titles are take it or leave it. The overwhelming majority are gimmicky and plain bad, while the rest are pretty much mediocre, average, bearable.
With all that being said, if you really enjoy Zelda and the other Nintendo franchises I think there are enough solid first party titles to enjoy that it would completely justify you spending your hard-earned cash.
My choices for you:
The Metroid Prime trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Okami
I agree. But it's also a budget console, which helped influence my decision of getting a Wii. Other than that, great. Ever seen Goldeneye 007 (best bond game ever, one of the few good bond games out there too), Call of Duty MW3 (well, you probably have a PS3, but if you're like me...), and maybe a couple others.
A lot of people give the wii *** and say that the system isn't worth it, but in my opinion, the first party games including Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2, Donkey Kong Country , New Super Mario Bros. Metroid Prime 3 (Not a fan of Other M), Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii., Super Paper Mario, and both Legend of Zelda games are well worth the price of admission (Especially since if you are smart, you can get a decent wii bundle for probably about $60, maybe less, these days). There are even some third party gems like No More Heroes, Mad World, and Okami (A port from the PS2 but it still rocks, very similar to the Legend of Zelda). If none of these titles interest you, you probably shouldn't get a wii but if they do, pick one up! While the Wii may not have as many great games, the ones they do have a fan-***-tastic!
