I guess I'm different, but I really don't care about graphics. Certainly not enough to warrant an extra disc for the game, anyways. That's just one more thing for me to lose or scratch. :)

i would slap the developer who made a 6 disk game instead of properly compressing the data.

Six disks is fine by me. I'm not going to buy a PS3 for less disks. There are only three games on the PS3 I would want to play so that doesn't warrent the $300.

I don't think the graphics has anything to do with the size of the disc in this particular case but rather is the result of the 360's hardware capability.

I think this method would only be best for games that feature multiplayer and singleplayer. One disc would be for campaign, and the other would obviously be for online fun. The rogue element would be campaign co-op though, but I'm pretty sure it would go with campaign. Have any of you ever played Medal of Honor: Rising Sun? It was on two discs, one campaign, the other multiplayer. But, the method would completely backfire if all games were made that way: for example, Fallout 3. Could you imagine if half the map was on the other disc? That would be a complete blunder, but I still enjoyed the heck out of that game even though it was one disc. If this were the law of the video gaming land, I think large-world RPG games would really have some trouble. So, for major online titles, it could work, but RPG games is a bad choice.

Fitting a game onto two discs would just give developers another excuse to have even lazier coding, which would not help.

The best way to fix this is to simply be more efficient with coding.

the game is not linear, so it wouldnt work with 2 disks. not unless 1 was purely for install, like the forza 3 extra content.

that said, i dont think disk space had anything to do with it. i mean the pc version has way better graphics and it fits on one disk...

I think it's harder than it sounds. For a game that has a lot of potential sales...an extra dvd or two could be very expensive for the publisher/developer, therefore cutting into their profits. Couple that with the fact that PS3 is going to start to have better looking games than the 360 soon due to bluray storage and a more powerful system...and you're going to find buying the PS3 version might just start to happen more and more often. In case of Dragon Age, it's also a good point that it would be tough because you would have to be constantly changing discs.

It would be hard for Dragon Age though, because there is no order in which you have to do the quests. So it would result in a lot of switching back and forth between disks.

If they do start using multiple disks I hope to hell that they finally learn something about not just stacking the disks one on top of the other. It's a cheap cop out that can easily result in disks getting scratched up.

after all the comments on the 360 having less than stellar grfx on it's version of dragon age, i got it for the ps3 instead. the ps3 uses blu-ray so it can hold a lot more info. why the hell not just put the game on 2 discs instead of sacrificing quality?
