The lights are on
I have only had my Xbox 360 for couple of years so I apologize if this is an old issue. Also, I have not posted to the forums before so I hope that this is the correct place for this question.
Short version: Does anyone have experience with the success (or failure) of porting in game sound through a Xbox 360 controller for use with a non-gaming headset in order to hear both Xbox live chat and in game sound? I found a mod to relay a series of cables from my Xbox to my controller but I wanted to see if anyone has had success with this before I purchased the cables.
Long version: I wear two "behind the ear" hearing aids which prevents me from being able to wear any kind of headset without taking off my hearing aids and taking off my hearing aids defeats the whole purpose. I own a very expensive peripheral for my hearing aids that allows me to stream sound from most electronics directly through my hearing aids, effectively converting my hearing aids into a headset for electronics. Ideally, I will connect my Xbox controller to my device (Phonak's iCom) and be able to hear both sets of sounds directly through my hearing aids.
Thanks for reading. Also, please feel free to ask any clarifying questions if needed.
if you have hearing aids why not just turn up the tv? and as far as a headset goes... why bother? do you really want to talk to the 14 year old that's yelling at his mother? i stopped using headsets years ago and have never been happier.
Whatever peels your orange
Thanks for your input. I have avoided Xbox live chat so far. I am trying to play online co-op with a friend which started my current efforts and I've been waylaid by the fact that the Xbox controller doesn't support in game sound.
I can connect my iCom (which transmits the sounds directly to both hearing aids) to either my television for in-game sound or my controller for chat communication. Connecting my iCom doesn't allow me to hear any other sounds except for the sound that I am streaming. Thus, I cannot connect to live chat and still hear the in game sound from the television. Thanks though.
