  • cause game r fun

  • For me it's an escape from every day life. It allows you to become something or someone that you're not and maybe something that you want to be. It's no illusion to me that people with a good imagination become more "obsessed" with thier gaming and less "obsessed" with everyday life.

  • For me it's all about feeling like you're one with the game, and the glory of being the best of the best. When i get a new game I wont sleep until every achievement or challenge in the game is completed.

  • Living out a role I could never possibly do otherwise is a big reason for me. I also enjoy good stories, and games have those quite frequently.

  • I'm not sure that I've ever made a game my 'life', but I've certainly spent what seems like most of my free time playing some of my favorite titles. I'm an online multiplayer FPS player and unless I'm replaying an old favorite like Borderlands, Fallout: New Vegas, Bioshock or any other game I love that doesn't involve online gunning, you can pretty much guarantee that I'm going to be online every single night for at the very least 3 hours (generally somewhere around 5 or 6). Is that my life, or an obsession? Quite possibly. But I have plenty of other hobbies that I squeeze into my days. Videogames are by far my favorite form of entertainment and I definitely spend a lot more time on games than I do on any other medium. Why? Because no other entertainment offers the complete immersion into such incredible stories and environments quite like videogames do. Let's take the movie Hero for instance. Great flick with tons of action, beautifully shot environments, and deep intriguing story. I loved this movie and it felt wonderful to experience such a beautiful piece of art. But it's missing the most important thing that makes videogames my go to experience. I don't get to fight the fights, navigate the environments, or unfold the story through my direct action. And that's why videogames are my go-to form of entertainment. Full immersion. A great game hits all the same marks as a great film or a great piece of literature. But in a game, I'm the protagonist. The actions are my actions and the surrounding are my surroundings. The story is my story. It may be an obsession to some degree but being obsessed with art is never a bad thing.

  • I couldn't agree with all of you more. It is nice to take time away and escape into another role that we could never achieve any other way... I have to admit.. Getting into the story you get lost in the characters and can't wait for find out what unfolds next... Getting lost in a good story is never a bad thing. Some game like us or read a book. Personal preference I guess. Thanks guys
