  • I looked around the boards and couldn't find a specific "Fable III (3)" discussion. If this has come up before: let me know because I must've missed something.

Anyway, as we know Fable 3 is coming soon... suprisingly soon to me. I have this fear that much like 2, 3 will merely be a near similar clone of it's predecessor. The first Fable was... different to me, but it was alright if not lacking. Fable 2 certainly let me down because I found it to be much of the same with new graphics and names (not to mention the "Meh" ending).

So, we've got another of the Molyneux franchise on the way... thoughts?

There's a fine line between not listening and not caring... I walk that line everyday.

  • And just yesterday, I though Fable 2 was released. But seriously, Fable 3 is coming way too soon, unless Lionhead had a separate team making Fable 3 when they were making 2. I kind of liked Fable 2 though, except for the whole magic system, I hated having to charge high level spells while I sat and got smacked around, and I still have yet to finish Fable 2 and its expansions as well.

  • The third game in a series always seems to come out sooner than the second. Mass Effect 3 is set to come out next year whereas we waited a couple years for 2.

As for Fable in particular, I think it's because of the semi-cliffhanger ending they left us with. They have already announced that Fable 3 will be much more connected to Fable 2 story-wise than Fable 2 was to Fable. Therefore, they have to release it soon or else we'd forget everything from Fable 2.

Personally though, I trust Molyneux to not skimp on quality. We'll just have to see.

    Currently Playing: Assassin's Creed 2 (Xbox 360)

  • I enjoyed fable 2 much more than the first game. It actually lasted more than a few hours, and the addition of the dog was a nice layer.  Some developers can create games faster than others, but yeah I was surprised by the announcement of Fable 3 being here soon.

  • Fable 2 was good, but I breezed through the main plot in about 4 or 5 days. While yes I had alot of fun with it, I had no desire to download any content for it becuase I geuss I got burnt out on it.

Fable 3 sounds promising though, apparently you are a king right? Read it somewhere, probably GI.

  • The latest GI issue had some good information about Fable III.

They plan to integrate some new kind of systems into it including the "touch system". The game has a lot of potential and A LOT to live up to. They are taking a HUGE risk in changing around the core gameplay. They want to remove the health bar and issue in a recharge health similar to those seen in First Person Shooter games.

What I am looking forward to is the fact that when I make my character stronger, I won't look like a freaking bulky man-beast thing person. In rpg games, I like looking like a cool teenager type person and I don't want to have to get so BIG to be so strong.

Also I want to see the story progression and the new weapon systems. Either way read the full article in GI magazine for all the information

  • I read that your weapon evolves with you, like your dog in fable 2.

I love the Fable games. I just wish Molyneux would keep his mouth shut sometimes. He always seems to  over hype his games.

I did not have issues with Fable 2 feeling like a clone of Fable. To me thats not a bad thing and I would hope that Fable 3 retain these qualities while adding more ( As long as it fits on one disc ) will powers, pub games, jobs, dog breeds and sidequests. The visuals of Fable 3 that I've seen so far look amazing. I'm hoping Lionhead will also bring back the katana my favorite melee weapon.

  • CANT WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT ITS REALLY INTERESTING SO IM WAITING FOR IT.

  • I'm way behind the power curve on this one.  I just found out about Fable through the latest GI article on Fable III.  So I went out on Live and found the first episode free download for Fable II and tried it out.  Within minutes, I was hooked.  I'll be making a trip to buy Fable II very soon.

With all of that being said, I'm not hard to please.  From what I have seen, the gameplay is already what I personally am looking for.  Now just add in an engaging story and I'm sure to buy III.

  • I am actually excited for this game. I downloaded the first one when I just got my 360, and I absolutely loved it. The second one was really fun. The combat system is still one of the funnest ones I have ever used in an RPG. The ending was crap, I won't argue with that, although it would be hard to make an argument for that ***. So, I can't wait for 3. The idea of being king sounds fun, and if there is anyone who can make this reallly fun, it's Molyneux.

  • I love the series, won't argue about it. Though they aren't absolute amazing best game ever type of games. They are just solid copies of fun.  Though they are made out to be groundbreaking and breathtaking by Mr. Molyneux. The guy needs to keep his mouth shut till release is set. He loves to talk a lot of crap to the magazines and fans and always ends up pulling something or screwing it to where it sort of resembles what he said...Like an ugly twin. Look back at the titles, Fable was suppose to have a full on aging system along with aging children. Fable 2 he said you would have a companion that you would grow with and love and share a bond etc. As well as a new drop in and out Co-op. You get the game and your like, "...Cool...I have a golden retriever, it sometimes attacks, sometimes brings me stuff and basically follows me like a mag from phantasy star." The co-op instead of dropping in and out your character...You were a henchmen that wasn't you, but was your level and evil/good points counted towards your save...Awesome... Now Fable 3 has had two things pulled kinect ability...excuse me, "It isn't capable right now," and the online auction house. Still these are minor things, hopefully the game can surpass Molyneux's big non-gaming mouth and be a solid hit like the original Fable. Lets not have a Fable II repeat, this game looks promising and the best to say the least...But we will have to wait till Tuesday 12A.M.

  • I love the series personally i liked the first one the best by far...way more to do.The mini games for number 2 sucked as well but i also probly expected too much out of it. If Lionhead does as usual they will skimp out on some of their promises but we will se 3 days!
