This may be a case of rose colored glasses but I remember enjoying games like Gex: Enter the Gecko, Xenogears, The Legend of Dragoon, Clayfighter

Some under appreciated titles too like Psychonauts.

I knew a lot of people who plage AoE, I was one, even the demo was amazing. I haven't played 3 or AoM though... any thoughts?

I am not a big PC gamer but I remember years ago spending countless hours on Age of Empires. I don't know anyone else who has played this game but I still play it sometimes today.

Super Contra for the NES. It gets overshadowed by it's predecessor and sequel. It really is a great game.

I'd definitely have to say the Spyro series (The original) was wayyyy underrated. I think the most current game I've played, Afrika, is also way too underrated. Both of these games deserve to be held on a pedestal like Call of Duty and all that other bull they keep recreating every single year.

Remember Star Wars Episode III the game? It was not only one of the best movie games, it was one of the best Star Wars games. The gameplay was good and the duels were epic. Plus the duel mode lets you set up some cool battles. Darth Vader vs Mace Windu anyone?

The most underrated game is definetly Lair. It was a good game, but people just didn't take the time to learn the controls. They just gave up and decided to call the game unplayable. And the worst part? Factor 5 went out of business just because people didn't give the game a chance. That is why I will never forgive Edge magazine, GameSpot and IGN.

Overlord 1 and 2. They are almost pure fun and adventure. I think Dragon Ball Z budokai are a little underrated, and i agree with Def Jam Fight for New York. That game was actually a very good fighting game.

Vigilante 8 was a great game it's one that i could pick up anytime and play again.

Chassey Blue was the best! lol

For my pick it would have to be the Yakuza series it's a great game just not a lot people have bought it.

smuggler's run was awesome. That was the first PS2 game I had ever played and that was something else. I'm going to have to try to find that again someday.

That being said, I have to throw Battlefield: 2142 into the mix. Seriously it took what Battlefield 2 did well, added a couple of new modes, a new story, and was an awesome game. tactically no game has ever compared to it and no game will ever look like it again. From the deserts of northern africa to the ice-covered Berlin the game looked and played awesome.

I wouldn't say Golden Sun was underrated, because it was thought to be amazing at the time, but I would say it is forgotten. I haven't heard that name for some time now.

Definitely Freedom Fighters. That was a pretty cool and different game.

Conker's Bad Fur Day was awesome.

More of my own picks: Smuggler's Run. I still enjoy that game today when my friend comes over. Battlefield 1943. Its cheap and fun. Resident Evil: Outbreak 1 &2. Hope they re-release this one.
