The lights are on
Before posting anything give me an explanation why. Don't give me a fanboy crap reason either.
I don't want to regret my suggestion like I did when I bought my Wii.
So far when I dig through the Internet everyone says PS3 is a greater buy Wifi/Usb/Blu-Ray/ Etc.
Edit: Hello! Thanks guys for answering my question! ;D I do not regret my decision for PS3 as i fell in love with their exclusives and currently waiting for them such as KZ3.
360 hands down
I'm on my third case of RRoD. As a soldier serving overseas, I can attest to Microsoft's change in policy to shiping to APO addresses. They sent me a box with shipping label and detailed instructions. Reps even called me back quite frequently to make sure I was happy and had recieved said box and shipped my broken Xbox off.
That being said, it's very hard right now to convince myself not to buy a PS3. I'm not a Sony hater. I loved the PS1 & PS2. I won't lie and say I don't ABSOLUTELY prefer the Xbox 360.
It's just really hard right now, trying to convince myself to NOT buy a PS3. Are there similar flaws with the PS3? Am I being a blind fanboy for asking these questions in the first place? Shouldn't I have given Microsoft the finger the first TWO times this happened? Why am I so anxious to get my Xbox back?
All in all, it would be great to at the very least, have another Blu-Ray player in the house. For some reason, none of my friends feel comfortable watching Blu-Ray's in my bedroom. Go figure. But with the awesomeness of MGS 4, Infamous, and Drakes 1 & 2, it's a lot harder to forgive 2 months of no gaming.
Especially when it's an Xbox 360 ELITE I bought 7 months ago!!! Are we not past this yet, MICROSOFT???
Get a PS3 they are great I have one and a 360 watch blu ray movies, internet browser, and PS3 exclusives. Free online too!
Even though I have both systems, I tried to love my 360 I really did, however it didn't play out that way, Most games I have I'd rather play on PS3 so I always lean towards that system, I don't hate 360 but...-shrugs- It happens ya know?
But can the Trophies compare to my Narcisistic Fondeling Gamerscore? I see all the PS3 user's Gamertags, and I still have no clue what the globe trophy entails.
At least with the Xbox gamer score you have to check out which game I got what points in to make fun of how bad I really suck. The PS3 just puts you out there. You may have 3,005 trophies. But 3,005 bronze trophies compared to my 103 Globe trophies means I own you.
I prefer my heckelers having to work to humiliate me. But I REALLY want to play Drake's 1 & 2.
I have both systems, both bought used. I have a whole 3 games for my 360 and haven't touched it since I beat Fable 2. I have to say that the ease of use on the PS3 is huge for me. The 360 is kinda..well retarded in some ways. As for trophies and all that, they're the same to me.
I haven't had problems with either of my systems, and that PS3 gets used relentlessly as a a movie player and since I have about 15 games for it, plus all the DLC games, and the fact that I stream music to it I'm very thankful it's working like a champ.
I too know the pain of the red ring of death.
The story I heard is that MS used cheaper components in the circuitry of the 360.
As an unforseen result, systems began failing at an epic rate,
MS put billions of dollars into the problem, but many feel that they understate the problem.I or one can't blame them for protecting their product.
At least they are doing something about it though.
As far as your situation goes though I can't really blame you for going another route. The PS3 has some sweet looking games!
You need a reliable system.Get a PS3. But keep your options open in the future, because I'm pretty sure that MS won't make the same mistake again.
I have a Game Gear, Mr. Mysterious. Ren and Stimpy gets played relentlessly on it.
But I guess my real question should have been this...
I play video games "A LOT"!!! And I do mean A LOT(Kinda' why I've had the RRoD 3 times)!!!
How would the PS3 fare with not only my gaming tendacies, but also my movie watching? I also watch a lot of movies.
And with Amazon handing out Blu-Rays on Black Friday like it was my birthday, combined with the ever-advancing Blu-Ray content(Just try watching The Watchmen on an old Blu-Ray player) and it seems a rather thorough recipe for further disaster and frustration.
Are my fears unwarranted???
I have a PS3, Wii and 360. The 360 is my system of choice. I have 2 hooked up in my apartment and I haven't had a single problem with either. My PS3 I had issues with the HDMI port after moving into my current apartment, but ts one of the ones with backwards compatibility so I will keep that til it dies rather than fix one thing. The Wii is, in my opinion, unbreakable. Unfortunately, my g/f found out the hard way, glasses on the coffee table in front of the couch are.
I have all three systems, and have had the RRoD three times as well. This made me aggravated as well, and I started exploring my PS3. I now play it over my 360 any day. The exclusives are real nice, DLC is with exact money and not points, and the Blue ray gets updates constantly. Not to mention the internet explorer! At the beginning of the console war Sony had little games, but now they are coming out with some major titles and is my system of choice.
Honestly, it depends on your taste. 0.o
Depends Get a PS3 if you want to play exclusives like MAG, Uncharted 2, or God of War 3.
Get and xbox if you want to play Left4Dead, Halo3/Odst, or Fable 2.
If he wants a 360 he'll probably be mad if you get him anything else. Be prepared to buy another because even my friend (who doesn't play a lot of games) needs new video cords. They are great but they break all the time.
Probably get a 360. although you are correct on alot of what you said, he wants a 360.
