Any series that has a militant / cult like following that will attack anyone who doesn't like that certain game. Final Fantasy series comes to mind. People are sending death threats in Japan over the fact FF XIII is also being released on 360 after it was promised to be only for the PS3. I think Final Fantasy 7 is and over hyped snore fest. But you know what that's why I don't play it now and didn't play it much when it first came out.

I am a fan of the Diablo series, but a lot of people view it as a game that you win by clicking the mouse really fast. They are right, it doesn't take that much skill to play it. I don't really care though, person X saying the game is stupid doesn't effect my enjoyment of the game.

The most overated game series is probably final fantasy. Too many of then and they all feature small guys with big swords. LAME

have you ever actually PLAYED a Final Fantasy game before? the reason why there are so many FF games is because the series is actually good and completely different every time, unlike certain OTHER games (cough cough any FPS cough cough) besides, since when do they all feature small guy big sword? the only game like that is FF7. FF8 features a regular guy with a pretty badass and normal sized weapon called the gunblade , Final fantasy 9 has a monkey guy with a friknen DAGGER! DAGGER=SMALL WEAPON. Final Fantasy 6 actually features a GIRL WITH NO WEAPON AT ALL AS THE MAIN CHAR! So yea you should try a final fantasy game dude, they have incredible stories (except FF13), amazing music (except FF13) and very well developed and interesting characters (except FF13)

@Slessman Um your reasons are a little odd... I would argue that the voice acting is actually great. The clown shoe thing is really small, and doesn't seem like a good enough reason to hate a series. It would be like me saying I didn't like pokemon because the grass looks weird. As for the Disney thing, thats debatable. I feel like thats what keeps the game from taking itself too seriously.

Actually, the voice actors were quite notable. A lot of the major Disney stars featured their regular voice actors, and the second game had Christopher Lee (from The Lord of the Rings)!

Yeah, the Disney part seemed a bit tacked on... On second thought, it was REALLY tacked on... But the Final Fantasy atmosphere was pretty cool.

I kind of forgot about the clown shoes after a while... I guess I never really questioned it, sort of like how no one questions why an Italian plumber is sent out to rescue a princess from a turtle-dragon hybrid monster in a land of talking mushrooms.

But yeah, everyone has their opinion...

I personally have a lot of opinions of what I think are overrated games, but a lot of them have been said already, including one that has been mentioned at least 5 times per thread page.

I don't remember whether I have answered this thread or not. However, I think that the Kingdom Hearts games are overrated. I absolutely cannot stand this chimera of awful.The voice actors are terrible, the feet are too large, and Disney is meant for television and movies. Keep Mickey Mouse out of my video games.

Call of Duty the modern warfare series. Don't get we wrong, they're good games, but the hype has made them out to be some kind of "ultimate" experience and I think this gives newcomers to gaming the wrong impression that mw2 is as good as it gets. Its not the epitome of gaming, its not revolutionary, it's simply a refined version of the formula we've seen many times before. I'm just saying there are way better games than modern warfare 2 out there, hell there are way better fps. It wasn't the ultimate game, it was just a solid one.

Actually I think Halo is overrated and GoW is the best (but hardly the first) in a genre that I think is overrated: "stylish action" (aka streets of rage + street fighter+ swords).

And just to not leave anyone out, I think Smash Bros is highly overrated for its gameplay- the fan service is undeniable though.

Halo.

I loved the first one when it first came out, but I didn't like the second one at all. The "plot twist" with the Arbiter was predictable and lame, and that was the moment at which the series lost my interest. Also, I have been to parties and such where 3 and ODST were being played, and I never once felt the urge to pick up the controller, yet everyone else was practically fighting for it.

Not to say they were bad games, but I just lost interest in the series.

Halo can be kind of overrated, but I still enjoy the game most of the time. I'd have to say Fable because it really doesn't compare to almost any action/rpg game out there in my opinion

Halo, *** boring, poorly written storyline and dialogue and boring gameplay again, and Master Chief is not a cool character, he isn't even that bad ass, he wears a *** load of armor while everyone else goes in there like men wearing regular *** armor. Also his helmet has a lame ass visor. Master Chief sucks

*** IT ALL! Im so sick of hearing everyone say how Halo is not good and.. GRAH! It just gets to me so much! Now, im not one of those nooby little kids who only plays Halo and doesent even know who Gordon Freeman is, I am very highly educated in the ways of gaming. I play Half-Life 2, Final Fantasy games, Call of Duty games, Resident evil ( INCLUDING THE ONES BEFORE 4. ) Im not some kid. But when it comes down to it Halo is fantastic. World of Warcraft or Halo 3/ODST

I loved the first Halo, and I still play with some friends in private games over the PC (too many hackers in public) and I played the campaign countless times. It would be very realistic for me to say that I completed the campaign 70 times within the year I got it. Halo 2, it was alright. It didn't seem to have the same appeal. The story lost it's luster after the Brutes were introduced and made the main enemies.

World of Warcraft, honestly, I don't find anything enjoyable about the game. It just got dull. You point and click your way through the game, use a couple skills here and there...
