mw2, ac2,uncharted 2 and many more just sold millions and made billions of dollars so as you can tell piracy is hurting gaming just SO much right now that there selling more than ever. cry me a river.

Game companies have a problem with used games (and respectively, retailers have a problem with digital downloads.) Im slightly opposed to both opinions, as I feel it attracts potential customers who just wouldnt buy the games otherwise. What does this have to do with pirates........uh.....OH!, there are probably pirates who wouldnt play a game if they couldnt steal it otherwise, and you know what? I couldnt give a f*** if you played the game or not. And as for people who have a problem with they game they're stealing, or the companie that makes the game, **** *** as well. I see their justification, and it's total bull, because their are lots of people who share that view, and still pay with their hard earned money. they'll give feed back to the companies themselves .......and I completely lost track of what I was saying.... uhh, nevermind, forget what I said, Im watching south park.....

i dont mind people pirating games as long as they own them already. you have to admit, they do have the right idea in some respects. id rather have all my games on a memory card of some sort (like an R4, etc) instead of carrying around a bunch of cartridges in my pocket for my DS or PSP. also, as someone mentioned earlier, who wants to pay a huge amount of money to play an old game? i think things like the Virtual Console is a step in the right direction, letting us play old games for reasonable prices, but sometimes its almost impossible to play a rare or old game. we may not like it, but its something we have to deal with. kudos to those of us who buy all of our games, but lets not be so quick to judge

From someone who is somewhat versed in these dark arts it is not as difficult as you would think.

Allow me to delve into this deeper. I'm fundamentally against piracy in video games only. I consider movies and music fair game. However allow me to give you the different viewpoints of pirates.

1. It is an older game that is still being charged full price for. They feel due to the age of the game and the fact it is still at a high price that it is a ripoff. So, they download it. Some instances they do have a point, but most times they do not. For instance CoD4 is still $40. Why is it still that high?

2. They just want to say they downloaded a game. These are the worst of the bunch.

3. Some games severely limit LAN play and in order to play you need multiple copies for yourself and/or cracks. This I don't mind and have done. When I play with my friends we have certain cracks for games to allow us to play LAN together without buying extra copies. Also falling into this category is games that only allow you to install on one computer which is ridiculous.

4. They don't trust the game. This is another situation that I find acceptable in some situations. There is no returning or trading in a PC game once you get it, so you need to be sure about it before getting it. Alot of games have demos to try but those are becoming more rare. Many people download the game to try it out. Most that I know will buy it if they like it, but of course some will not. Let me give an example. The NHL series has been awesome on the console. I play it on Xbox360 all the time. So, I decided I should get it for PC as well. After reading about it the PC version was supposed to be terrible. So, I downloaded it installed and it was atrocious. The graphics were PS2 quality and the controls were flawed. I then uninstalled it and was happy to have saved myself $50 worth of frustration and regret.

In the end there are ways for the developers to curb piracy, aka put out better work and more demos, but it will never be totally eliminated they need to figure some of it into their budget.

As much as many of us pay for our games *as i have to since i work at gamestop XP* but saying to stop piracy is like saying stop making rated T for teen games. *bad analogy right* but anyway people will always do this if the chance to do it is there. Why the main reason as its cheap and easy way to get teh game they like ill admit games are expensive 4 games for ps3 these days*new are 60*4= 180 dollars* not much by some but sill.

any way although i wish that many would stop i know they will not >.>

I pay because I want to continue to play. I rent also to help out with cost because I play alot.

Also, does anyone else think "i only buy really cheap games from bargain bins" is code for piracy (sometimes, not every instance)

nah, i pay for all the games i play. if a developer will take the time and energy to make great game, i think they should be compensated for it.

I really don't support piracy. The only pirating thing I have on my PC is Photoshop, and even then, my younger brother got that piracy and I made him pay for it by deleting it and then making hime go to Best Buy and buying his own Photoshop.

Most pirated games out there are PCs and PSP games. I haven't heard anything else being pirated.

Problem is, society does not care for the industries that continually gouge the consumer. How is it fair that I pay 60 dollars for a piece of junk game that barely registers gameplay mechanics? If you can justify that, then justify this:

I would never pirate modern video games, whether they be massive HD PC games, or petty DS titles.

However, I would understand pirating if someone REALLY wanted to play a rare game that's like 15 years old, but couldn't buy it, for it costs over $100 on eBay or Amazon. I haven't experienced this myself, for I was able to get a VERY GOOD copy of FFVII for $50.

I also believe the pirating of foreign games is justified. Websites often have unreasonable price tags for these games, and as much as people frown at those for pirating, it's something you just have to accept in this country of growing poverty...

I used to yell at my friends for pirating all of their movies, but I later realized that it made me look like a rich ***hole in the end. Games cost $60 a pop these days if they are on the HD consoles, and people sometimes don't have the money, so you're just going to have to accept it.

I know personally that it feels better to have actually purchased the game with your own money, but nobody but our poor law enforcement has any right to shun them for what they do.

I don't think the problem is really that widespread. Hopefully a lot of people realize that they are just hurting the industry at large by pirating, and themselves in turn.

That said, I really don't frown upon emulation or torrents of older or rarer games. You gotta play them somehow.

Piracy is something that will never go away, just look at black market dvd's and now blu-rays for crying out loud. I for one don't take part in it in the gaming world anyways, hey have to admit I own a feel DVD's and Blu-rays, just couldn't resist...but for games all natural all the way baby.

Yes I buy all my games except the ones that are gifts. I think its only cool if you download a game thats just in Japan or something. Like Bleach for the psp. Now I don't know how to do this and I probably wouldn't but I still hope thosee Bleach games come the NA someday...

It still pisses me off that i have to steal a keycode to play a pc game on my second computer. Of course i havnt done that since i was thirteen because there have not been pc games that cought my intrest. cant wait for starcraft 2 and diablo3

Absolutely. I always pay for my games. The only case where I don't pay for a game is when a friend of mine lends me a game to play. And I never actually keep the game, since it's not mine...haha.

I'm rather against the whole "illegally download the game" business.

Im an honest gamer.I pay for everything that i play and download.It just makes me angry that lots of people play the same game as i do and they didnt even pay for it!
