I only buy regular editions. Games are expensive enough as it is. Paying more than $60, no matter what is offered, just doesn't feel right to me.

If it wasn't for the limited edition MW2 360 I would be getting the prestige edition of the game. The only limited I'm defiantly going to get would be the one for God of War 3.

the only time i care about collectors edition is when its a game im extremely hyped for. and honestly i dont even care whats in it, i have to have the collectors edition of those rare super important games. to date ive only bought like 3 of em ever.

The only one I have, or will soon, is the Collector's Ed. for Assassin's Creed 2. Paid it off about an hour ago. Woo.

I lost count. From the top of my head, I've purchased the CE for Assassin's Creed, Oblivion, Metal Gear Solid 4, FFXII, Gears of War 2 (ick), CoD:MW, Halo 3 (the helmet one, dumb choice), and WoW:WotLK (best choice ever).

I have on reserve the Prestige Edition of MW2, the CE for Assassin's Creed 2, and am closely tracking any possibility of a CE for Cataclysm as far in advance as possible.

I thought the BlazBlue Collector's Edition was a good investment. It was nice to see that Aksys Games and ARC Systems gave me a DVD providing combos, match-ups and extras, and also 2 CDs full of beautiful BGMs. All for the regular price of $60 plus tax, which was like $65.

I love it when publishers give out soundtracks, art books, metal game cases, comic book, pushies and action figures/statues/bust for bonuses in collectors editions, but at the same time hate when the just give you some code to download crap off of PSN/XBLA.

With that said I hoping there's a Epic Mickey Collectors Edition.

Much like Nub said, I mainly go for Limited Editions if they have something I can show off. Sometimes, I even reserve games for stuff , like the soundtracks from Silent Hill games. I'm planning of getting the AC 2 CE for the soundtrack and statue.

However, the RE 5 CE wasn't worth it. The figure was small and broken, the necklace looked pretty bad, and I have no use for the patch. Honestly I don't know why I bought it.

Eidos (or Rocksteady, whichever one is at fault) screwed the pooch when they originally announced that it would be a metal Batarang. Changing the design later and still charging so much money was really stupid. I hope their LE sales tanked, they earned as much. As for me, I purchase limited edition games if the content is worth displaying on a shelf. Once I start work on my basement, it's going to be crammed with game-related junk.

I wanted the limited edition for Arkham Asylum. I didn't get it, but I wanted it.

Now I here people complaining about the batarang being plastic. I agree, that is cheap. For all that extra money, I expect quality metal products. Not cheap plastic.

I miss when limited edition releases were reserved for very special launches, and when they MEANT something if you had them. Now there's a "limited edition" coming out every other week, including some disappointing trinket and a code for exclusive DLC.

Myst III: Exile had an AWESOME limited edition release. A big attractive variant of the box, a pewter statuette of one of the creatures from the game, soundtrack CD, making of CD, the game, and the player's guide. For bonus points, depending on where you were getting the game from, you could get a t-shirt featuring concept art of the same creature depicted in the pewter statuette.

Now THAT is a limited edition to be proud of, and it was only $10 more than the standard game, instead of paying $30-40 more for a badly put together "replica" and a code for DLC that should have just been implemented into the game in the first place.

Recently I was extremely disappointed by the LE of Batman: AA. You don't even know what I felt like when I picked up the kid's meal worthy Batarang. An oversized cheap, plastic toy.

Alright, so I have only ever bought three limited/collector's/special/whatever editions and all three times I've been disappointed by them. They were Gears of War 2, Fallout 3 and Fable 2. I was just wondering what you guys think about the whole thing. I personally think that if the extra content is in game then that's cool, but all this extra stuff is kind of useless.

What do you all thank?
