The lights are on

I never once said it was a bad game. I just said it wasn't as good as its predecessors. I was directing it towards the people who don't think Obsidian will be able to make as good a game as Bethesda, and telling them that they are very wrong. Fallout New Vegas will be a great blending of both companies visions and I think it will be much better because of it. I put almost 300 hours into Oblivion. I never said it was a bad game.
If you bred HK-47, Shale, Chai Ka and Wrex, the gaming world would explode from sheer badassery.
If I misinterpreted you, I apologize, but to be honest, your words kind of gave that impression.
It's really popular among certain circles to hate on Bethesda, especially around old fan sites like Duck and Cover, and the term "Fallout: Oblivion" is their rallying cry. You've used that term twice thus far in the thread, so I just assumed it was in a negative context. But like I said, if I misinterpreted, then I apologize.
I'll agree with you that Fallout 3 wasn't quite as amazing as its predecessors, but I still think it was a good game on its own and an excellent job in recreating Fallout.
I can agree with that. I just use Fallout: Oblivion, because that is what my friends and I call it (we are all big fans of the first 2). When it first came out, we were sitting around watching Tim play it, and when it started up, one of us, now I can't even remember which of us it was, said, hey look its Fallout: Oblivion. It wasn't meant negative, it just sort of stuck. We thought it was funny, so we kept calling it that.
This game is going to rock. Hopefully Obsidian is up to the challenge.
I'v played Fallout 3, and one of the originals, and I would have to say that Fallout 3 is the best so far.
I've only played Fallout 3, but it kept me busy for a long, long time. I just kept pointing myself at the hollow arrows on my compass and exploring. And I could level up while awake.
Now I get that the Capital Wasteland is not a nice place and sometimes situations end really, really badly, I get that. But why was the Tenpenny Tower quest the only one that was a lose-lose? There were other quests that could've ended the same way, but it was just that one.
Hell, even as a good guy murdering the ghouls was more or less the best option.
@ Trader
Lol , I know what you mean , I played it both way's and was kinda taken aback when , after I helped the Ghouls to be accepted by the Tenpenny residents , I came back a while later and found their boss living in Tenpennys quarters . There was a lot of blood everywhere and when I asked him what happened he said that he'd had an " accident " .
Well, when the Ghouls completed their dastardly act(even killing Dashwood and Hawthorne, and they /liked/ Ghouls!) I was left with no shopkeepers because I convinced them all to leave. My good/neutral(can't remember what he was now) character was suddenly filled with the psychopathic blood-filled rage that had exploded from my own soul. Just when I was about to murder all the Ghouls for screwing me out of merchandise, Michael Masters took out the Boutique place.
No one ever knew that he had single-handedly saved every last one of them.
Anyways. Judging from screenshots it's got slightly better graphics but still has VATS. And you can customize weapons with scopes, extended mags and what-not.
I'm really excited about having special dialog choices for characters with low Intelligence. This was a staple of the first 2 games, and led to some hilarious conversation options.
Could someone comment to me what Beta is. Also I think they may use Area 51 as a top secret place like the National Guard Depot in Fallout 3 with the strongest weapon. Or at least I hope so...
War is like gambling: someones gonna pay!

This thread just convinced me to download Mothership Zeta. I've been holding out on this one because of the medocre reviews but I NEED MORE FALLOUT 3 NOW!
I know there's a Solar Plant which may be a Death Ray.
I'm excited about using my higher skills regularly in dialogue rather than just once or twice in the game.
I know I am going to get it just because I love Fallout. I am really hoping they add some kind of co-op there is nothing worse then inviting my friends over and them just watching as I play fallout. I know it's a lot to ask for but I mean it can be pulled off well. Also, I hope that they fix the glitches that come with DLC. I have had everything from falling into the ground and ghost corpses flouting around. It just takes away from the game.
The thing I like about the game is that they didn't do crap to change the game's engine. Why? because that gave them roughly 2 years to build a game without having to worry about chaging engines which take up a lot of time in the development process. This gives them ample time to create a well polished game with a few cool new features like aim down sight and weapon mods, better speech with people in the game, and improved interaction with henchmen.
