The lights are on
So I was reading an article relating to Saint's Row IV a couple days back and I took notice to how many people mentioned Grand Theft Auto in the comments. It's understandable to a certain degree seeing as the Saint's Row franchise began as a quote-one-quote GTA-Clone but I feel as though with the most recent installment, Volition has sculpted a very unique experience. To continue to compare the two, I feel, would be downplaying all the effort they made to create an identity of their own. Not to mention my certainty that if you were to compare most games to GTA, they wouldn't be nearly as appealing. With my two cents out of the way, let me ask you: Is it fair to keep comparing Saint's Row to GTA?
no they are completely different games now
(I'll be honest, I had no idea what "verify answer" means and pressed it on accident.) Saying that they are -completely- different games is a bit of a stretch, but I understand what you mean.
I think people still compare them because they share some of the same basic gameplay concepts and the earlier GTA's were more ridiculous vs. realistic (to an extent) which they are now. I think they're two completely different experiences now, but there are still some similarities that I think people can't get over.
Long live play.
It used to be relevant to compare Saints Row and GTA. Though that was Saints Row one and two. Saints Row The Third was a joke and does not deserve the saints row name. But the first Saints Row really was a game that could challenge the GTA series. Then Saints Row 2 improved many of the features from the first and was gaining ground. Then Saints Row The Third comes out and screwed it up and now Saints Row 4 is screwing it up even more. :(
....So much could have been done
yes, Its just feels right
The first 2 SR games I could see the comparisons, but they've gone in a complete different direction than GTA now. Smart move IMO...GTA 5 will have no comparisons.
