The lights are on
I wrote a blog post about this a bit ago. It seems that I am not alone in not enjoying certain... great video games.
My hatred towards Metal Gear, Borderlands, and Saint's Row is well documented. And I fully admit that these games are *gulp* great. So my question/discussion is what great games do you absolutely hate? These are games that you can fully admit are at least good. However, you still need to hate them ^.^
Wouldn't say hate but I dislike any Rockstar game outside of Max Payne. I've played pretty much all of them (except L.A. Noire. I watched that one) and they do nothing but bore me after a while. I don't get where half these supposed "great story and characters" come from. If Mexico in RDR was even just 5 minutes longer, I would have put the game down forever because I hated that section that much. I get why people love their games but they don't work for me. I could go on but I'll spare them.
To add to your feelings about Borderlands, I somewhat agree but to a certain extent. I had fun with the game only because co-op made it less obvious how boring and bland it was. But I really don't get how people were so in love with it like it was something new and original. It wasn't.
I thought it was WoW but in a FPS style. I just could not get into Borderlands at ALL.
mass effect, FF series, WOW, COD
Beer is the answer, but I can't remember the question.
Call of Duty that is it.
Zelda games...tried to get into it multiple times, but never could like it.
Final fantasy... Just couldn't get into them
I hope I don't get killed for this, but I can't play a single Mario game unless it's Paper Mario.
Harvest moon, I absolutely hate it with every fiber of my soul. But I cant stop playing it, I literally fear small little anime characters in adds because it might be a new harvest moon game. I know thats not exactly what this thread is about but they are arguably (and I cant stress that enough) good games that I hate.
Zelda for sure.
I really am not a fan of the Halo series anymore. Plus I still haven't found a Fianl Fantasy game that I have enjoyed or finished.
Never cared for GTA: Vice City.
The Man With Many Dogs, Blake: I thought it was WoW but in a FPS style. I just could not get into Borderlands at ALL.
The loot system was interesting until you realized 99% of the guns were garbage. That with the non-existent story, little to no personality in the main characters and NPC's (outside of 2 or 3), and just plain boring locations until the final area. Borderlands is like a lot of games: good ideas. poor execution. Co-op saved it for a while but I could only play it for so long and eventually just stopped. I hope 2 turns out better but I'm not any kind of excited for it, so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised this time.
Also, anyone care to explain their choices? Like Mario games and no longer liking Halo? Finally have a decent thread ready for a good discussion.
The thing about Halo was that the hype surrounding all of the games got me so pumped up for the experience. After I picked up Halo Reach, I couldn't believe how kinda lame it was the whole campaign just didn't do it for me, it was okay, but like most shooters it just starts to become repetitive. Then multiplayer was good until I was introduced to the joys of xbox live game chat. I played halo for most of my summer vacation in 2011, but after looking back at it, I felt like I had just wasted my time. Now the announcement of Halo 4 just makes me feel that Halo is "CODing" there games. Granted this may give me alot of hate, but all this is JUST MY OPINION.
I can't get into MMOs or massive online FPS. Just not my thing. Boderlands kind of falls into the latter, but I couldn't do that one either.
