  • Right now I'm playing as the soldier. My thinking is this.....there are a "bazillion" weapons....why not use a soldier. Right now I'm a level 16 and starting to get a little bored...I think I should just stick to straight up FPS games. Visually the game is beautiful, I love the art style, and some of the music selections are pretty unique.

  • i got 2 on my first playthrough at level 35. i have a "bloodhawk" hunter and a mod that has +2 chance to find rare items. when i use my bloodhawk, he will destroy 5 enemies or half destroy them if they are elites, and then i will finish them off with some transfusion grenades or wait 20 seconds to summon my hawk again.

they are rare drops, but the more drops you can get, the better your chances at getting one sooner. i got a revolver and a combat rifle, and both regen bullets faster than i can fire them, but i use the patton for a revolver because its stronger and more accurate, then switch off to regen in-between fights.

  • What's the best place to find awesome shields?  Anyone know of any vendors or places?  I'm on my 2nd playthrough and my shield just isn't cutting it anymore.  Let me know.

  • People must understand that just because weapons are rare doesn't mean they are good.

  • Sorry for the double post, but here's my opinion:

    THIS GAME IS OWN@GE!!!@#@#%

    *@#&$(&*(%  I CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!!

I know many people are going to tell me that I shouldn't think about this now, but there should be a sequel:

Who was the "angel Guardian", who contacted you and guided you, and where was she? how did she know the vault existed? why didn't she tell THE PLAYER::::

THAT the things in the vault wasn't loot, but a humongo boss that was a monster-thing... I'm level 30 on first playthrough, the reason i know what is in the vault is cause i bought the strategy guide.. I was that obsessed XD

    :)

  • A friend of mine has Borderlands and its mad fun; I really like the multiplayer too.

Definitely a sleeper hit that could turn into a mega franchise.

Overall, this is the one thing that most people did dislike about the game. The fact that the vault was closed upon fighting the Destroyer.

Personally, I felt this was what clinched this game's role as one of my favorite games of all time. The name of the planet is Pandora. The vault is a container, I hope you are educated enough to know the idea of Pandora's Box, that when it was opened it unleashed all the evils upon the world. But at the very bottom, it contained hope.

You, the main character, are that hope, the hope to defeat this evil of all evils that is supposed to be immortal in its own dimension. Personally, I feel the guardian angel did not inform you for fear that you would not follow through with your duty had you known the truth of the Vault, but this is speculation.

(WHAT OCCURS AFTER THE GAME IS OVER)

Upon finishing the battle with the Destroyer, you see a nice little cutscene where you're in space above Pandora, and you see a cl4p-tp satellite, and if you look closely it's labeled 4NG3L. It's supposed to be assumed that the satellite is the one who was the Guardian Angel guiding you this whole time.

I assume that's why it was unable to watch you when the Echo Net was turned off by Commander Steele, it was no longer able to locate you, therefore watch you.

Personally, now as a level 50 Soldier, who has helped and played with someone who completed their Second Playthrough (Therefore all chest from then on contain lvl 48 weapons and above), I've seen a good # of Orange Weapons. Realistically, I don't think I've found even one that I use on a normal basis, most of the times even if I do find one, it's extremely powerful but inaccurate, towards the end of the game what I feel is the most important is a powerful weapon with good long range accuracy, if you have to be standing right next to the lvl 50/51 enemy, you're going to be taken down quick (Again, this is *after* the second playthrough was complete, every enemy is lvl 48 and above, the enemies in the very last section, a couple, the elite versions are actually lvl 51)

So the overall moral of this story is that, rarity really does not affect how great the weapon is. Although I don't believe I use any white rarity items, but I still use Blue and Greens pretty often, with an occasional Purple. And as stated earlier, I still have yet to find an Orange rarity worth using on a regular basis. (Note: White-Blue-Green-Purple-Orange is the rarity from least rare to most rare).

  • Tell you what dude, I know it's a late post, but I personally think we need more soldier classes.  Their underrated, and they have crazy healing abilities.  I just got my 1000/1000 gamerscore for borderlands, and have a level 50 of each character.  If you want me to help powerlevel, my gt is profoundprodigy

  • Yeah, I finished my 2nd playthrough recently and am level 50.  Kinda sucks that there is no 3rd playthrough but I guess all enemies becoming level 50 and 51 once you beat it again makes up for it.

  • I am absolutely loving this game.

"Borderlands is going to absolutely knock you on your ass" - says the PlayStation Magazine review.

Well, I have the 360 version, but the same holds true.

I've only had the game the last 3 days, and I've already reached Lvl 28. Leveling, which insanely easy at times, is still quite fun. I love the looting, and upgrading weapons. Can't wait to get to this *** vault thing I keep hearing about constantly. I Also can't wait to check out this zombie x-pack.

  • i absolutely love this game. never knew much about it or saw much on it (other than the commercial which has the cage the elephants song i love, glad to see that was the opening scene) but my brother got it for 360 on day 1 and my roommate got it for PC on day 1 too. i watched him play it a few times and then over thanksgiving break i went home and started a profile and played my brothers copy. i was hooked.

once i got back to school i started my own profile (soldier) and my brother power leveled me to a level 25 to start the game. so its been pretty easy going so far, im up to a level 32 and just beat krom and its starting to get a little tougher but its nothing too bad at all.

cant believe this game was never on my radar... i think i might go for 1000/1000 on this one too. and then ill get my zombie killing on.

  • i have a hunter as my main then my second is brick

  • i'm wondering about whether or not i should get this game on 360 or the ps3. also, if anyone on the GI staff is reading this, how come 'the edge' feature got taken off your reviews of multi-platform games? i'd definitely welcome back that feature because it's often a painstaking decision on which platform to buy certain games for. thank you

  • ok. Last night I got to level 50 on my support gunner, and finished the second playthough.

    *slight spoiler alert*

The vault was a major disappoinment. The destroyer was easy to take down, and after that, nothing?!?! I figured the vault would consist of a major fight with like 100 aliens all attacking you at once that you have to take down.

the gameplay itself was fun, leveling, looting, getting better weapons, that is all fun. The storyline, throughout most of it, was okay. Nothing spectacular. but they really could have done something better with the ending.

I will not be submitting a final opinion on this game until i've checked out the zombie island dlc.

  • zombie island was a lot of fun and i probably clocked about 6 hours into it. the final boss was pretty hard, i died more fighting it than the boss of the actual game. plus its a good way to gain some extra experience and get another backpack upgrade before starting the second playthrough.

one word of advice for those of you who havnt played it yet: start the braaaaaains mission by going to see someone in that area south of where you fight pumpkinhead while youre over there for that mission. i didnt find him until after beating the games story mission and i couldve saved myself a lot of time if i did it first by continuing with the story and collecting brains at the same time.

but the dlc is awesome and definitely worth the $10 i dropped for it, i hope they keep it coming with some more because im always down for some more borderlands
