The lights are on
So I was flicking through the channels the other day and happened upon the old G.I. Joe cartoon. I loved this thing as a kid and sat down and watched it. In just one thirty minute episode I saw a space shuttle get caught be a net that turned into a giant battle, giant sea robots that were protectors of atlantis, tiny fluffy creatures that turn into giant monsters, a space battle, sneaking into a base disguised as the enemy, an airplane chase through a city, a base being blown up, a plan to cover the world in emp, and a death trap.
30 MINUTES!
I'm sure there is a G.I. Joe game out somewhere for older consoles but why is this not around now. You got plenty of characters and villains, plenty of crazy story to work with. Action to the highest degree.
I'd immediately buy any game that let me catch a space shuttle with a net
That is all.
You'd think they would have made one when the movies came out.
A zombie ate my signature.
Personally, I'd rather they don't make a game, than for them to make the game but make it bad.
This post is shamelessly self promoting (well, I'm a little ashamed...) but it does apply to the original post:
Thunderpunch Studios is currently working on a tile-based strategy game where you can create your own characters. We've been drawing a ton of inspiration from G.I. Joe (I've got a Cobra Commander bust on my desk as I type this...) as far as character and level designs go. It's almost like being able to design your own G.I. Joe characters, form them into a team, and battle the teams of other players online or fight the computer in single-player matches. You can check out the facebook page at www.facebook.com/SODWA.Game. It's got a ton fan-submitted character designs. I do apologize for the spammy nature of this post...
Well they did make one around the release of the movie. "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra", which was broken and disgusting in every way. So considering the shameful (and personally expected) failure of that game, I think the possibility of another G.I. Joe game is probably low. At least another one that would include the type of hands on 'real time' action you are describing. But you never know, some developers don't know when to stop.
That seems an awful big jump to say because their was one bad movie game that the chances are now 0. There have been plenty of bad superhero games in the past. But new developers and new publishers always make a new one. I mean if that were the case there would be no Batman Arkham games
Lucasarts needs to make another Gladius
