My next great game idea.

  • After showing my Lost Moral pitch, (Read My Game Idea in PS3 forum.) Here is my next blockbuster idea.

I call it Land Down Under for obvious reasons. It is ma first person shooter, but with a special twist. Like Bioshock, this shooter gives you weapons like laser guns and detenator-spear guns instead of M60's and 30. Caliburs. Also unlike COD you can actually move the environment however you want to, (think the Force on a massive scale.) Here's my pitch.

The Australian Outback is a lot bigger than Jason Stromm expected. A lot bigger. You look down the dusty dirt road for more dust and dirt and hazy mountains far off. Now you take control of a First Person Perspective (FPP) and you can either look out of the Jeeps side windows or at the dashboard, all showing tumbleweeds and cacti. Driving beside you is a pretty blonde tour guide in khaki clothes and a pith helmet. Her nametag reads Sarah Knowl, and she will accompany you throughout your journey. On the radio is Men at Work's "Land Down Under," an iconic song which will sound sickining later on your journey.

Sarah looks to you and asks, "Why did you come to Australia, Jason?" (Think of her as that blonde from Uncharted,)

You have three text based answers which all shed light on the protagonist Jason Stromm.

    1. My wife loved kangoroos.(Sarah'll answer, "That's so sad, what happened?"

    2. I don't know, I guess I've always been drawn to Australia. (She'll answer, "Aren't we all?"

    3. I want to see a rattler. (She'll laugh and answer, "No you don't.")

If you answered number one you won't get time to answer, because that's just when a mammoth arm smashes down into the Jeep. You are knocked around a bit, and you are disoriented COD style where you recover quickly enough to see Sarah  being grabbed by the claw, blood begins to curl around the claw as she screams desperately. You are ereged to either grab an axe from the safety kit near you, olr grab the pistol far away from you. If you choose the axe you move to the claw and you charge up a Madden-kick like meter and savagely break the claw in half. If you go for the pistol you take too long and she is pulled out of the car. You'll still have her company eventually, but she won't trust you as much, which will make tactical planning more difficult as her NPC nature will make her deny your orders.

The game after that is largely based on how you play, but here is some of the plot. You were just attacked by one of the Australian Government's Project 67 creations. They are monsters created to kill by the Government. You will black out shortly after the in-car attack, and you'll wake up in cages in what looks like a prisoin over barrels of Project 67 waste. When you try to break out, you go into this waste, your Infamous-esque powers are unleashed, lightning bolts, force powers, sonic punches are all at your disposal along with Borderlands fire lasers and acid guns. You are breaking out of the five-mile long Installation. The gameplay consists of puzzles, platforming and action.

Of course, tactical attacks are essential. You get a map screen where you and Sarah can plan attakcs such as decoys, pressure attacks, and wall swinging Batman AA stealth.

This is my idea along with standard online gameplay and tons of upgrades.

  • Please stop making multiple threads on your game ideas.

Use the blogs for these ideas.

    Thanks.

  • G'day mate! I think that if you posted a thread on here that then had your link to the blogs it would be okay. I honestly didn't mind, but if others are touchy like this fella it may be best to use the blog space. I think the more threads the merrier though. So do as you see fit. I like hearing about your ideas.

  • I'm not denying that it is a bad idea though. It's a great idea.

However, instead of making a thread for every idea, you could make a link in your signature leading to a blog, showing your ideas.

That way, every time you make a post, people will see the link to your blog.

It would result in a cleaner forum with happier mods and users :-)

    To make a Signature:

    - Click "Settings"

    - Click the "site options" tab

    - Type whatever you want in the "Signature" box and click "Save" at the bottom when you're done!

  • At first it sounded like Far Cry 2, starting in a Jeep with a tour guide. And I love Far Cry 2 except it was all shooter and no RPG. I enjoy text choices. However, I do not enjoy random government monsters. I would keep that out.

If you post it, they will troll.

  • So the special "twist" of this FPS is that it's like Bioshock?

  • Actually, no. The special twist is that the only thing close to what I intend to do is Bioshock, which in itself is a unique game.

  • Oh, cool idea! Put it on 360!!!

  • I would get rid of the lightning powers, or replace them. Also it would be nice if there was a choice of gameplay(Kind of like Avatar but without the crapiness). For exaple, you can either fall into the vat or miss it. If he lands in it, he gets powers, but if he missed it, the game play should have another mode, like the gameplay would be more focused on duck and cover tactics. Also, the powers would probable scare off most NPC's, so the non power mode would have more NPC interaction.

  • oh my, just stop being a jerk. What the frick' does that random attack have to do with my idea? Find a good use of your time besides randomly insulting other peoples ideas and acting like people give a crap about what you think.

Nah.  He was talking to me.  I was trying to show him that he broke rule #1 when proposing a pitch.

  • how about instead of writing about a game idea you learn how to actually make the game, like I dunno go to one of those colleges and join a company ? otherwise, stop fantasizing about imaginary games. also australia doesn't strike me as an evil country that would go around creating biologic killing machines, how about making a country do that that actually makes sense, or the monsters were made by another country and theyre testing them out on Australia? like an evil organization has cut off the island from all means of contact with the outside world, and is having their monsters run amok
