The lights are on
Could be Spoilers if you have not read the Top 200 games of all time (Issues 200) magazine yet.
Congrats on 200 issues GI!
Kind of disappointed in some placing of some games-- like for example:
The Top 10 was (for the most part) perfection..top 1 & 2 very close...not going to spoil it--but if you can't determine those by your selves...well...you have no opinion :) (where was home pong xD)
Curious to hear what other people think (agree/disagree). And if the including of recent games (with barely half a year to distinguish greatness) should of been included (*cough* borderlands)
Yeah, I was happy to see Half life and splinter cell make the list but a few did seem oddly out of place. I didn't think farcry even should have made the list at all, I mean the arcade game silent scope was more fun than that. Anyone who has ever stepped into an arcade knows what that was.
I was pretty happy with the list overall. The Top 10 was very well thought out, and the rest of the list was good. The farther I went down though, the more times I thought to myself "This game should be higher/lower/replaced with this game."
My biggest gripe with the list was that it started at #1. I was expecting to read through it from the bottom to the top, so I was a bit disappointed when I turned the page and saw the top of the list right away. It was kind of a letdown.
I loved the list, even if most the games were before my time. I had a few issues though, one being the amount of 2009 games being in there (I think there's 5), and the omission of either home console Battlefront. Also, the original AC does not hold a candle to Little Big Planet, yet AC was put 10 spots ahead. Go figure.
What would the world be like if everything suddenly disappeared?
There was a surprising number of games on the list that I had never played before so I suppose I should go back and give some of these a shot. I was surprised at Counter-Strike making the list considering its origins and how much I hated it. But hey, opinions! One of my favorite games of all time didn't make the cut, Parasite Eve II, but I think i'm that game's only fan.
I was surprised at the games that I never played as well--I thought they were only rent-worthy and not actually good games (like #200) --seems I was wrong. Alot of classics were on the list definitely--maybe not placed well though (like to me all the Zelda titles could be in the top 50)
No Streets of Rage 2, me sad.
I thought the list was spot on. When it comes to something like this, not everyone is going to agree with every game placement.
I know Andy and all of the other editors have made a point that there's going to be hate mail and fan mail galore, but if there's one issue I feel is legitimate, it's the case of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. I'm not hating or praising, I'm just scratching my head, completely dumbfounded.
Pandora Tomorrow was pretty fun, but I can hardly think of it as one of the greatest games of all time. It was a budget title with shoddy voice acting and completely uninspired, linear-as-all-crap level design, developed by Ubisoft only to cash in on the new Splinter Cell craze and to hold fans over while Ubisoft Montreal worked on Chaos Theory, the true sequel to Stealth Action Redefined.
Like I said, it was pretty fun, but I only enjoyed it because I enjoyed Stealth Action Redefined. If Pandora Tomorrow had been the first entry in the franchise, I think it's safe to say Splinter Cell would have died as soon as it was born.

This. I was expecting to read through a hundred and ninety-nine games, anticipating what was going to be the big number one, but it was dropped on my lap right then and there, so the rest of the list felt sort of like, "yeah, and here are a bunch of other games that aren't number one."
I enjoyed thumbing through the list and reminiscing on the great history of video games.
IMHO, the list was spot on. I failed to notice any game on the list that I felt didn't deserve to be there.
the top ten was great. I would probably have a slightly different order, but the games that were in the top ten deserved to be there. I don't agree with the game that was #1. (dont want to spoil it). I would place it in the top 5, but I don't know if it necessarily deserves to be #1.
I was a bit surprised that they didn't choose to put the RE1 remake on Gamecube on the list instead of the PS1 original considering how many things the Gamecube version fixed and the new content it added.
The list was terrible. Counter Strike at 96, Halo 2 at 110, Link's Awakening ahead of Majora's Mask, and then you have games like Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Batman AA, and Modern Warfare 2 on the list. Those games have only been out a few months, no way should they be top 200 of all time.
Blade: and then you have games like Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Batman AA, and Modern Warfare 2 on the list. Those games have only been out a few months, no way should they be top 200 of all time.

SPOILER WARNING:
The technology has evolved unbelievably since the release of most of the games in the top ten, like the original zelda and mario 1/3.
Are you saying there are never any great games released today, with the technology we have today? who cares if the game just came out, if its great its great.
What game is the hottie on page 5 in?
