Games have replaced my relationship to cigaretttes.  My lungs thank Xbox and Wii.  When playing Wii it was very hard to smoke and game anyway.  I could pull it off with the Xbox though.

most of the girls i have been with were ok with me playing games for long periods of time. heck they even played with on some of them

nah video games have never negatively effected my social life. in some regards they heightened my relationships and i'm blessed with a girlfriend who understands and accepts my passion for gaming.

Gaming like everything in life, is about balance. In general human life should always come first especially children. So +1 for being a good dad and having your priorities in order.

my gf is okay with me gaming as long as we play games together, or I let her play the games she likes.

plus, when she has homework to do or something, she likes when I play games that way I don't bug her.

Sometimes I'll throw myself into a game and basically hole myself up for days to a week, kinda shunning myself from society. lol. I'm sure plenty of nerds do stuff like that.

Anyway...sometimes it irritates my friends that I am totally oblivious to them because of my geek tendencies. There have been a few arguments. Other than that, they're used to it. It's an "oh gawd, she'd addicted to another game again..." phase that they know will pass. And then I'll let my PS collect dust for a while before I do it again.

I'm not dating anyone, haven't in a long time (too many other priorities, lol)....but I wouldn't go out with anyone incapable of understanding my dweebishness.

Strangely enough, most of the guys who ask me out are gamers.... Birds of a feather flock together? XD

co-op mode. haha. no seriously, if your both gamers you have something to share, if he/she doesnt share in your interest, Im sure they have a hobby of their own. As long as both hobbies ( and people ) are reasonable this shouldnt be a factor in a downspiraling relationship.

As to this topic, my fiancee likes games, but unfortunately it's all crap like Tony Hawk, so we don't game together.  She's very good at giving me space, but I feel my recent MW2 playing is grating on her.

Like has been mentioned, it's about balance. My sister's ex played WoW all the time. When they were on the phone he wouldn't stop playing. The game became more important than her, so it ended.

I've never had a relationship end over gaming. Still, I want to try dating a gamer at some point since I feel it'd be an important connection.
