very tough question i know. there are just so many! whether you count Dante from Devil May Cry or Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. you get to choose, and of course villains count. (so don't forget about Sephiroth!)

Ryu Hayabusa isn't a bad ass -- he's the ultimate killing machine without the attitude. I'll choose between him or Cloud Strife for the most skillful gaming character. Tifa Lockhart is my favorite female gaming character (Ayane is a close second).
Nathan Hale. id like to see master chief fight off the chimera while slowly mutating into the very enemy hes trying to destroy. hed be crying after the first level.

It is very hard to decide, AAHHHH!!! Kratos is one to think about because of his brute force and unhindered anger and that he still as a small amount of humanity left in him through the memory of his famliy. Master Chief is another because he is the last of the spartans breed. Same goes for , can't believe I'm saying it, Mario and Link! yeah i know, but think about it, they both have to save the same ditsy chick on a regular basis. because this seems endless, i suggest they all fight to the death to see who is the true GREATEST BADASS OF ALL TIME!!!!

Altair. come on, this guy has no fear climbing huge building JUST so he can jump off of them for the hell of it. he kills people and then disappears in plain sight, takes out legions of guards with the swiftness of an eagle, and makes you take a second look at anyone wearing a white hood.
either him or Link. he travels most of the *** Kingdom ON FOOT!!!! carries an insane amount of weapons and items and still manages to run and do a ton of pull ups. he even sumo wrestles rocks AND WINS!!!!! and he saves the world on the side.
I'm going to have to include Bayonetta... any female that uses her hair for a weapon, is a ultimate bad @ss.
Dante in my opinion, he manages to kill a multitude of demons with style.
