The lights are on
I, personally, used to love COD but now I hate it more than anything in gaming right now. I'm interested at what people have to say about it, so give me a yes or no and the reason. And please, I don't want a fanboy and hater battle. Just give your opinion and respect others', please.
Every CoD is the same game in a different box. Personally I think Call of Duty is very harmful to the game industry, as it saps money and fans from better IPs by recycling a very predictable formula. It also caters to a very wide fanbase, and offers instant gratification for multiple types of audiences.
Personally i enjoy playing them when i'm with friends or not really wanting to get lost in a plotline. I've never really been able to get through the storyline, but i really like the online co-op! :)
Also, i would suggest making this thread into a discussion instead of a question. Although you are asking a question, its all a matter of opinion so there really wont be an answer that fits everyone. :)

CoD games are highly recommended for me.
Thank you! At least someone agrees with me.
If they were bad games they wouldn't be some of the most critically acclaimed and highest selling titles of all time. The recent ones have fallen off the wagon, but the formula and polish is still there and its still very much a good series, the people who complain on the internet are the minority and just a very loud, very annoying and entitled minority.
Let's use the term "entitled" correctly, folks.
Aside, it depends on one's expectations. While IW hasn't really evolved their formula, it nonetheless is one that is consistently good with minor improvements. On the other side, if one likes innovation, then COD will leave them wanting, especially storywise. I think Treyarch excels above IW in storytelling.

I do agree that Call of Duty really has a refined and nearly perfect multiplayer system. That's probably why they never change it. I'm just a gamer that loves innovation and hates repetition, and that's why I hate it. I would really love to see Black Ops 2 with something new in it. That, to me, would really set COD apart if they can deliver something new (a big change) and still keep their fans.
I still enjoy it. I like the story mode. It is fun to crawl around, killing bad guys, and occasionally being in a battle field with bullets flying. I enjoy the multi-player but only with the right friends. That is just my two cents.
Great series...always loved it...still do to this day. I prefer playing with a tight knit group of close friends in general though...at least when it comes to online play.
No, I still love the Call of Duty games. I'm a huge action movie nut, so getting to play a game that gives me that action movie feel is awesome. Modern Warfare 3, I'll admit at times during the campaign, felt a little stale. It had some good moments, but over all it was kind of a mess. Black Ops II though looks absolutely phenomenal. I can't wait to get my hands on that game. With some L4D innovation to the Zombies stuff, adding in campaigns and create your own game modes, plus they're keeping all of the modes from Modern Warfare 3, and tweeking them Black Ops style so that now Kill Confirmed has dive moves...it just looks like it's going to be an insanely fun time. It's a great multiplayer shooter in my opinion. This and Halo 4 are going to dominate my nights this winter.
@andynix42 Is that not the case with every CoD though? We get super pumped for the upcoming game, then it drops, and we b*tch and complain, the go back to the previous Call of Duty....
