The lights are on
It's significantly more important to me than online multiplayer, as I primarily play online with people visiting anyways. Well... that's not true, but it's still very important to me.
It would be important to me if me and my friends ever had the time to sit down and play couch co-op together, but since we don't and I don't see this changing very soon it doesn't affect me whether a game has it or not. Games like Gears, Halo, and Left 4 Dead were some of the best games I ever played and that was in large part due to the availability of split screen play that wasn't broken or otherwise boring as in CoD.
That being said, I don't think split-screen co-op will be something I look for in a game for a while, and that means that I probably will never get the Wii U because otherwise it has nothing I'm interested in. I might consider getting a Wii again just to play Mario Galaxy, but nothing on the Wii U makes me want to get it. It's just not worth it.
Yes! I remember when I was younger a lot of games had that option, but with the popularity of online multiplayer developers have all but forgotten about it. I mean don't get me wrong I love online multiplayer, I just wish couch co-op was still a thing.
Eh, not really. I usually only play online multiplayer.
Online multiplayer is fun and anymore is my primary way to game with my friends but nothing will ever compare to sitting down next to your buddies on the couch. Call me old school or whatever but its true in my opinion. Ive had some of my best multiplayer memories just sitting on the couch with a room full of friends playing games like Super Tecmo Bowl, Golden Eye, Mario Kart and Tekken 3. Good times man....good times.
