The lights are on
It depends on the game. Some boss battles are necessary and fun, but others get me so frustrated that I effectively just mash buttons, so it end up looking something like this.
That is never good, for your fingers or your computer.
I think it really depends on the game, some games boss battles are part of the game others they just don't need it. :)
Bosses normally anger me, but I mean defining boss could be varying
like in the Knights of the Nine DLC for Oblivion, was your last fight a boss fight?
I mean it's whatever for me, but sometimes boss fights can be really stupid, but I cannot imagine something I Wanna Be The Guy or whatever it's called without bosses, or other old styled games... they aren't too challenging until you get a boss
There have been times when a great cataclysmic confrontation has put the game experience over the top... and other times when it's just plain frustrating. Depends on the game; and IMO, not EVERY dungeon in a game needs a boss, especially when the encounter isn't creative or memorable in its design.
Pretty darn important if they are in the game. If anything they should offer a real and genuine challenge and I should gain a sense of satisfaction when I defeat them. I think a good example of bosses done right is Dark Souls. :D
Pretty important. Boss battles give you an interval in the game to feel proud of your accomplishments... unless you die fighting the boss, then you'll be kickin' yourself in the butt.
Its sometimes good to have boss fights because it helps the progression of the game, or adds a certain wow factor to the game.
When it comes to boss fights, I think it depends on how linear the game is. Rage is linear and I think there was one boss fight...ever. It really annoyed me that I put all this work in and didn't get to prove myself at the end of the game. And then there are games like Lost Planet 2 where it's like, yes your boss fights are intense and cool but you don't have to spam the "ready made boss battle key" when you are developing the game. But yeah in the end it all comes down to pacing and progression for me.
it depends how evil you are...
Puzzle games like mario zelda and metriod need boss battles but other than that it depends some games have them just for fun but most games dont NEED them they are just there other than those three games i stated those are the only ones i can think of that actually NEED boss battles. some games may need it for the story purposes too so my final conclusion is PRETTY IMPORTANT
it depends on what the game is about and how its played like assassins creed doesnt need a boss, but it could have one. gears of war has boss-like battles. and mario bros has boss battles, and each one of those are about different thing and the are played totaly different...
the sequel to that game is pretty easy do to the reaction commands boss battles were fun and enjoyable... with a few exceptions.
For most games, extreemely important.
i think on rpg games it is a big thing to have bosses be a big part of the game and but i guess it defers but i prefer to have a boss give you something big and be a chunk of the game
