The lights are on
We're updating the site tonight.

12:07 AM CST, we're in the middle of testing the changes now.
thank you. but wasn't that like an hour ago? time zones, ugh. anyway guess no blogging tonight. really, the advance notice is appreciated. ; )
You should be able to post to your blog as usual. We're not taking the site down and we've already made the updates, so blog away.
updating without going offline? kudos. i love this site. ; )
Yeah. We do it pretty often, so we try not to take it offline for updates.
i think mr. pms brought up how it's kind of a thankless job with people complaining all the time and not really appreciating all the work that goes into this site. i for one had no idea but you know, out of sight out of mind. might be interesting to post what's involved in maintaining this site; i'm sure it's beyond most members' comprehension (and i include myself in that category).
We want to have a blog where we can post about what we're doing on the site but haven't had time to. But yeah, there's a lot of work that goes into the site that you don't get to see because it's behind the scenes type work.
why am i not surprised you all haven't had time to blog about what you're spending your time doing? lol. but i think that's a great idea. it just might spark some interest in what goes on to make this site what it is today.
another update. whooooa buddy. what did you guys do this time.

we added the ability to comment on your own profile page. So now your status updates show up and you can reply to people's comments. Also fixed a bug for some of our videos to play on iOS devices (HTML5 video). So you should be able to see some of our videos on the iPhone and iPad. Then we fixed a bug in our media player where clicking on a video thumbnail didn't show the video. It does now. We did some other stuff in the backend too, which ya'll won't be able to see until we polish it up.
i saw the option to comment on others' comments, and didn't know what to make of it lol. good idea. so can i now also play vids on my droid? (haven't tried before.) also, is there a way to make the site more compatible with various browsers or is it the nature of the beast that some functions don't work or work intermitently depending on the browser? just curious.
Yeah. There's now a "comment" link that when clicked, will display a field to enter a comment to that comment. And we haven't tested the Droid. Will you let me know if it works? Only the single videos in the most recent posts will play HTML5 video. I'd love to hear what you're experience is with the site on a Droid. As for the various browsers, yes, that's the nature of the beast. We do our best testing the site in multiple browsers, but it's difficult to get all the functionality working in ALL browsers. The majority of our visitors use Firefox, IE 8+, Chrome and Safari, so we test with those browsers. But even then, we miss stuff. It's helpful to get feedback from the people who use the site as to what works, what doesn't, what you like and what you don't. We don't always get a chance to tackle all the requests, but we try...
eh you guys do fine for what you can do dont worry.
