The lights are on
Apologies if this topic has been done before.I was reading an
old article about the wonderful “Luther” actor Idris Elba being touted
to replace Daniel Craig in upcoming James Bond movies when Craig leaves
the role.Admittedly, I at first thought this would be a mistake,
and just pure tokenism. James Bond the character is a white man and I
don’t get the need to change such a basic physical feature. The more I
think about it though, the more I think somebody like Elba would bring
something good to the role. What do you think?

I do not care about the race of someone who would play Bond. I care about their acting skill. Simply doing it for personal agenda reasons like fairness or political correctness would be stupid, but doing it because a non-white person would be great at the role would be great.
Why not create another character for him but still in the universe of James Bond. Like another main character or top agent from MI6. I think that would be nice, Pardon me but I don't like James Bond or 007 being black not that I'm racist but that it's what people like us knew since we first movie or novel or something.
I'd support the idea of a great actor playing James Bond. That is if I even liked James Bond. It would clearly be a controversial move, Sean Connery was controversial enough at the very start because he was Scottish apparently. However if he done a good job I'm pretty sure the majority of people would accept the change and simply enjoy the new actor in his role. After all wasn't Daniel Craig heavily criticized as well when he was first announced? Seems everybody who plays that particular character is a controversial choice.
