I honestly don't care about not having 3D and while I would of liked to see what Nolan could of done with the Riddler I can see where he's coming from with not using him. This does take out what many thought would be the new villian in the next movie.

Title makes sense in that, if this is Nolan's last Batman film, it's about him becoming who he is. Also, thank God no 3D. Read over at /Film that Nolan's been trying to convince WB to do Imax instead. While I too would've liked to see how he could do with the Riddler (and Joseph Gordon-Levitt because he would've got the part), but oh well.

This does kind of make Killer Croc seem even more like a possibility now. In the end, Nolan knows what to do and I trust him.

somewhat redundant title, but i guess it wasnt going to be "the caped crusader" or "batman triumphant" ...I get the feeling Nolans not super fond of stuff thats even remotely silly, including the name "bat-man" its all quite silly when you think about it logically, which might be why he didn't want a villain whos crimes have to do with riddles, although it may have also been due to the more serious incarnations of the riddler had him murdering people in elaborate traps designed to sooth his ridiculous ego, and they may have wanted to stay away from possible SAW comparisons, or again, silliness

I'd be willing to bet that the Penguin is a contender for the new movie. But, not like the short, monster-like portrayal from Batman Returns. The new Penguin could just be a really evil, really insane guy just hapens to wear tuxedos and has a hatred for Batman. Nolan's formula is not complicated. Think of a villain that can be played several different ways, and believable.

I have nothing against Mr. Freeze but nobody has been really asking for him in the new Batman movies. And rightfully so because a guy with a freeze ray and a refrigeration suit wouldn't work well in Nolan's gritty realistic universe.

Nolan has also stated there will be no Penguin because he lacks realism (same reason for not having Mr. Freeze). So if you take that into consideration you can pretty much count out Killer Croc, poison ivy, etc. I would guess that given Nolan's track record of using non main stream villains (save the Joker in part 2), I would guess we're in for Black Mask, HUSH or perhaps Hugo Strange.

Bringing back Scarecrow would be an awesome villian for the way nolan makes his movies. Especially if he makes it like the version of scarecrow from the arkham asylum game. Dark sadisctic and the hallucination inducing drugs.

I've been wanting Mister Freeze in a good Batman film for a long time, Batman: Subzero was amazing. Plus Nolan claims to make deep character driven stories, so why not use one of Batmans most sympathetic villains? It could be more like his origin in the comics, showing his abusive and neglective family life as a child, his rise as a cryogenics genius, his marriage to his wife Nora, these could all be shown in flashbacks, and the philosophical and moral implications revenge brings about could be explored, obviously this'll never happen, but I can always hope...

Scarecrow was realistic enough for him to use in the first one.

really? a guy who somehow created a toxin that can make people experience their greatest fears? sure there are narcotics that can make people experience heightened senses of fear than they normally would, but it doesnt make them hallucinate, please explain how a therapist was able to somehow create something no other person could? The main problem problem here (or at least my main problem) is that realism doesn't always make for great storytelling, or at the very least logic

I wish I could go into any Nolan or Batman thread and not feel like punching my screen anymore.

Either way, I'm glad Tom Hardy was cast. I was hoping for Levitt or Guy Pearce or even Depp, but Hardy was awesome in Inception so it's good to see him in another Nolan movie. It'll be a while before we know who all will be in it, so who know what can happen.
