31/31 Final Day: The best of GIO

Well guys, I made it. 31 blogs have been completed, and I feel that I need to blog about why I even did this. You guys. Yes, the members of G.I.O. I am following Stranger’s template for questions, and I am sorry if some of you guys get snubbed. I can only pick so many members. Now, with that out of the way, this one is for you guys. Thank you.

1. Many GIOers have forged lasting friendships with other members here. For the sake of brevity, let's limit this first question to two or three members. Now, with that in mind, with the couple best friends you've picked from amongst GIO, why did you become friends with them? How did you meet on GIO? And, what makes them continue to be great?

Papercamm is the one who helped me troubleshoot Fallout 3 late at night over the summer. That gives me some serious respect for him. He always has something interesting to say, and when checking my games on steam, he is usually on the “Friends who own this game” list. He is also the only member who I have ever gifted a game to.

As I have learned from DJH’s comments on my previous 31/31 entries, we share similar tastes. He seems to be the only one here who likes Pokemon: XD Gale of Darkness, and he also thinks that Banjo-Kazooie is the best N64 game.

2. If you're reading this, then you're probably at least a passing member of the blogging community. Who is your favorite blogger here? What draws you to their works over any other? And what is your favorite blog by them? If you want, feel free to do a couple here if one is just too confining.

The best blogger is Saint, and the best is his X-Com: Enemy Unknown blog. It expresses his hopes and worries of the game, and his impressions of the demo. He obviously loves that series to death, and his great writing style definitely showed it. If you only read one blog by him, read that one.

3. We've forged lasting friendships, but we've also met many other people in this community since we've been here. Name a more recent member or two (I will cheat and use three) you've gotten to know and like shooting the breeze with. What made you make their acquaintance in full? And why do you enjoy talking/interacting/stalking them?

I am not going to break any rules and only use two. First off is GodofIrony. He is one of the nicest, funniest, and all around best members of this community. Every time he has something to say it will be delivered in a witty way, and he is just fun to talk to. He is also a very talented  artist, so I would recommend checking out his page on DeviantART. Also, I thank him for that drawing. Seriously, I have never had a collaboration on my stories before.

Next is Mray901. You might know him as the head brony of GIO, but he is much more than that. He is an all-around nice guy, and our resident Max Payne expert. He also likes Back to the Future and A Nightmare Before Christmas, which I approve of 100%. On top of that, he has the best Halloween costume out of everybody in the group.

Of course, also Papercamm, but I already talked about him and used a picture for him, so here is a picture of a kitten.

4. We've have a lot of great community members here at GIO, some of whom make excellent people to draw inspiration from. Who are a couple of the members who inspire you, and/or have inspired you in the past? How did they manage to do this, whether directly or indirectly?

Saint and TheGodofWine. Saint’s blogs are what inspired me to start writing. Every time I see one of his blogs I know that I am in for a treat. He does a great job of covering games and voicing his opinion in a way that is both fun to read and informative. Some of my favorites include his conspiracy theories and his X-Com blogs.

TheGodofWine’s Top 10 lists are another huge inspiration for me. As you might have noticed, I love doing countdowns, and he is a big part of that. Every time I read one of his blogs I can read his opinion in a hilarious way, with many out of the box choices. Top 10’s are really my favorite thing to write, and if it wasn’t for him I don’t think I would have any material for 31/31.

5. People often slip under the radar for many other members, or are otherwise underappreciated amongst the community. Who are a few of the people who stay out of the limelight and yet still manage to impact the community in a positive way? How do their contributions reverberate throughout the community, or even just to your own experience on the site?

DJH supported me the entire way of this 31/31, and his blogs are great. His top 25 blogs are always a good read, and he has the tough job of monitoring and judging GaMe. I know that he isn’t really ‘Underrated’ in a classic sense, but you really need to read some of his blogs.

Also, Wray601 is really underappreciated. He represents the best of trolling-Just being a mischievous jokester who has an odd theme of being Mray901’s evil twin brother. Except he says that he is, and I quote “much mor hansome.” If you want a good laugh, check out his page.

I will be taking a break from blogging until next time. So guys, see you all again in January where I kick off 30/30 2. And remember when I mentioned stories? Yeah, I will still be doing work on my DeviantART page Mojaramask until then.
