Switch Lights

The lights are on

My dwindling moments of amazement in this generation of gaming.

Growing up, we probably all have several games that are near and dear to our hearts, some of which we can remember almost every detail of, even after several years of playing them. Gaming in the past had always blown me away almost every time I played a new Mario or Sonic or any of the games many consider "classics." Even the PS2 gave me some of the most satisfying moments of my gaming "life" with games such as the Battlefront series, the Sly Cooper games, and much too many more to mention. I still feel excitement when I dust off the old Playstation 2 and pop in Star Wars Battlefront, flying in outer space and blowing up an enemy ship from the inside.

Now, to my sort of "main topic" of this blog. As much as gaming has evolved and expanded in many ways not thought possible, I have not recieved the spark that I used to recieve when discovering an amazing game. Even games of the current generation that I love to death, such as Red Dead Redemption, did not quite leave me with the same feeling. Now granted, this does not mean that I do not have fun gaming anymore by any means. I enjoy many of the newer games, and I have found a deep love for Skyrim, despite it's flaws. However, I no longer feel the need to play the same game for days on end without playing something else inbetween like I would few years back. I think what this gen needs is a game that fills you with a sense of mystery and discovery, much like Beyond Good and Evil or the original Halo.

Perhaps this is a feeling just felt by me. Perhaps it is shared by many reading this blog. If you have any questions or comments about your opinion or mine, feel free to post, but please leave mindless trolling elsewhere. I love my video games more than the next person, but I hope the next gen can give me the same spark I've been craving.
