Switch Lights

The lights are on

Not the mod you're looking for

Holy Cow on a pogo stick its Warbuff.  Hey everybody, long time no blog.  I've got a few topics to touch base on.

First things first.  I am not a moderator here at GIO.  Looks can be decieving; I know.  The short of it is no one knows how I came upon moderator status.  The appropriate people at Game Informer are aware of what happened but, so long as I behave myself, fixing it is low priority.  With great power comes the need to not use it... ever.

Second item on my list is Frag Fest.  If you've never heard of the Frag Fest, I'm not surprised.  If you do, feel free to skip ahead.  The Frag Fest is a psuedo monthly gathering of GIO community members to wage digital war in the name of great justice.  Eyros2k has been the Man heading up the organization and planning of the frag fest since its inception last November.  In general he picks a game, date and time to play.  Folks leave comments on his blog with their gamertag in order to sign up.  On gameday we form a big happy party, play and Eyros2k records the entire shebang with his HD capture machine.

Most recently Eyros2k was able to get an officail group created here at GIO.  If you'd like to make sure you're in for the next event head over to the group and join it.  GO THERE NOW!

The next frag fest is currently in limbo.  The last few months we've seen a steady decline in attendance.  I'll spare you the excuses but I will share my current plan.  Create a short list of the most popular games on 360 and PS3 then ask the masses to vote.  If that fails we will have a frag fest melee.  I'll explain what that is if we come to it.

Last and certainly least, user reviews.  If the opening sentence to this blog didn't clue you in, I haven't been excessively active the last few months.  From time to time I pop into the blog section, leave a few comments then ghost like Swazy.  Something I've noticed each time is the presence of reviews.  ***DISCLAIMER***  I am not telling you what you can or can't blog about.  ***END DISCLAIMER***  In case you aren't aware every game that has its own page here at GIO has its own user review section.  Open your profile in another tab.  Do see on the black bar above your name where it says reviews?  If you have a review of a game, consider submitting it to the user reviews for that game.  I'll reiterate, do whatever your heart desires.  I'm just sharing info with fellow community members.

That's all from me for now.  If you could please take the time now and tell me what game(s) past, present, future that would get you to attend a frag fest I'd greatly appreciate it.

  • Heeheehee, Welcome back Warbuff(er...if you left that is, I don't take much notice of the comings and goings of people). Never noticed that you had a mod status. People complain that the User Reviews are always terrible, but then you find all these great reviews in the blog section...it really needs to change.
  • I'm in the same camp as you - I don't mind if people do their reviews in the blog section, but I prefer to submit mine as a user review (mainly because people can see a list of my reviews if they click my reviews link.)
  • With great power comes the need to not use it... ever. The story of my life.
  • Congrats on becoming a mod Warbuff! I agree with you and Dean, User Review sections are for user reviews and Blog sections are for blogs. I've posted a couple of reviews in the Blog section, but it's because there's no page for the game or item I'm reviewing.
  • I tend to use blogs for reviews because the actual review section is a little unreliable. Games seem to be taken off randomly. The first Uncharted isn't even there anymore. If it's a problem I can stop though.
  • I actually think you'd make a decent mod but that's just my opinion...plus you can totally misconstrue this as me kissing ass :P lol Anyway, I've noticed the user reviews popping up in the blog section and admittedly, it has been a little annoying because then I have to skip the crap to find actual blogs that I want to read. Honestly...I could rant on this topic a bit but I won't lol Nice to see you again bud!
  • i am down to do fragfest i just dont get alot of the new games as they come out. i feel like frag fest should at least be a weekly thing and everyone votes on the game like you said(unless there is a new good game out).
  • Thanks for the info. Frag fest sounds fun.
  • I'm hoping to attend the next Frag Fest, so I shall see you then :)
  • I will never ever ever post in the review section again.

  • I find using my blog for reviews to be better, because I tend to review beyond the scope of what the User Review section covers. Not only that, I review to inform people what I think about a game. Whether I think it's a worthy purchase, regardless of how old or new it is. I don't find people paying as much attention to that section as I do the blogging section. If I want to fulfill my goal to inform, I need to go where most of the people are.

  • Haha I always assumed you were a mod.
