I apologize I missed yesterday's post, and it's coming much later than I expected tonight as well. Tonight I'd like to give a brief update on a podcast I produce and host, and mostly because it's now 1am and my sister's 21st birthday party is still raging down stairs, and work comes in 5 hours I'd figure something short and sweet and to the point.
The 4th Floor is a podcast that centers on many topics, primarily the area around Baltimore. We like to do movie reviews, discuss video games, and pretty much any topic that comes to mind. Over the past couple of months our production has grinded to a near halt, however I am in the process of fixing that. For reasons that I will not divulge into, my co-host Liz and I are having trouble getting scheduling down. On one front it's sad to see, as her and I are best friends and seemingly have little time to get together as often as we used, and on the other it's been a welcome period of growth on my end personally and mentally.
In the next couple of weeks I will be doing auditions, ie. if you want to do a podcast send me a message here on GIO or through email nschneider1983@gmail.com. I have one person here in Baltimore who has expressed interest and as soon as him and I can nail down a time for a trial episode we will be bringing out an episode. This will be primarily a test episode for him to see if he enjoys being a host on the podcast, as well as for our listeners to provide some feedback to myself as well.
The goal of the podcast is two fold, first it's a great way to get my voice out there, and second it's an easier means to provide discussion on topics that our audience is of interest. Blogging takes quite a bit of work, what with the sentence structure, grammar and spelling, and at least in a talking format one can immediately bounce ideas and arguments off another person. I'd also like to take this podcast and The 4th Floor to another level, and begin a sort of podcasting network, perhaps through GIO, there aren't too many podcasts on here from users, but there are some.
Essentially the podcast network would be a group of shows with their own separate cohosts, however if need arises for someone to fill in one episode for another show they can easily handle that responsibility and provide their unique talent and opinion to another show. I've discussed this idea with Braden over the past but financially I found our goals not congruent with each other. I'd rather just have individual shows, but with a talent pool capable of helping out in one way or the other on another show if need be. I'd also like to see some sort of collaboration between release dates, topics, and even promotion among those involved.
The idea behind GIO is that we are a community, and I think this is a great chance for the podcasts or anyone else who wants to start one to band up and build something entirely unique to GIO. We already have the writing talent of various bloggers on this site, why not pool those same resources for podcasting as well. Again if you're interested contact me at the email above, private message here, or on twitter I'm TOGNick there as well.
Just a little update on what I've been doing with the show, and hopefully in the next couple of weeks and months you'll start to get more regular content from my production, but in the meantime enjoy the other podcasts here as they are fantastic shows that each offer their own unique perspective.
Good Night And Good Luck,
TOGNick
I see that Dod Sno (Dead Snow) has apparently featured at sometime in those movie reviews... ;-)
I am totally not for this idea, and I have no interest in helping my good friend Nick with anything... F*** that guy.
