I know that there is a distinct line between what can, and what should be posted. I just used the kittens as an examples. Know that I would never frivolously post something.

However, I do feel that, just as how every movie can't be best picture quality, and how for every Red Dead Redemption there must be dozens of BulletStorms, not every blog post has to be life-changing reading material. If you look in my past blog history, I have posted opinion pieces, "deep" pieces, as well as more of these informative snippets.

What I take issue with here is that Gamebeast has his own definition of what a blog should be, which is fine, but he then tries to assert his definition as the only one, and tries to belittle me for not adhering to it.

You're right a blog CAN be whatever the heck you want. However, you have to expect a reaction like this from people who spend a lot of time putting together their blogs to produce quality, interesting posts. Posting something that is uninteresting/sloppy/just a picture of kitties in firemen outfits pushes those more time consuming posts off of the main page and quite understandably miffs those of us who spend quite a bit of time on ours. So you CAN post about anything, we can't stop you. However SHOULD you? Maybe not, it's just not polite.

As for posting guides in the guide section as opposed to the blog section, that seems like it would make logical sense and if someone hasn't then someone should tell them that. They are missing out on the ten extra GIO points for making a blog post over a guide after all! :)

And who are you to judge what a blog post is? A blog post can be about anything at all. If I wanted to, I could post a deep intellectual debate on gender roles in gaming, or just random pictures of cute kitties in firemen outfits.

I'm not slowly realizing anything except that there are some blogging elitists out there in the interwebs.

Lots of articles get cut and pasted elsewhere, I'm fairly sure it's an automated process. I've seen plenty of GIO blogs migrated to random as hell foreign language news sites and stuff.
