So, after reading the article about the NSFW Duke Nukem game on the front page today, I was looking through other game sites for their reactions to it. After a quick Google, I came across this one site that also had an article on Duke Nudem.

The strange thing is thought, that this 2nd site's article is, word for word, an exact copy of GI's article.

Here, look for yourself:

GI

Other Site

Now, I don't know for sure whether they copied GI or GI copied them, but unless this was a universal press release, which I'm almost certain it wasn't, someone is copying someone, and trickery is afoot.

It seems that soon, C3PO, Yoda, and Darth Vader will all soon be giving us driving directions in Tomtom GPS devices.

As if all this wasn't good enough news for Star Wars fans everywhere, Tomtom also released a couple of videos depicting Yoda's and Darth Vader's recording sessions.

Unfortunately, I am unable to actually embed the videos on this page, so you'll have to click the link below to watch them.

Some highlights of these videos include Vader trying not to sound so depressing and the recording session manager complaining that Yoda's directions will get drivers killed.

In Bungie's latest weekly update, they revealed some more information about customizing your Elite player model in multiplayer, as well as released a couple of pics of one option. Once again, they reminded us that there will be far less customization options for Elites than there will be for Spartans, and that it won't be customizable piece-by-piece.

Some new information revealed in the weekly update says that the way you obtain new sets of Elite armor will be to level up in multiplayer. The higher you rank, the more armor you'll have.

“Elites will be automatically unlocked as players reach new Ranks. They
aren’t something you’ll need to spend your hard-earned Credits on –
we’ve got plenty of stuff for that."

It seems that, in this latest build, there will be at least 8 armor options available to us, one of which is the beautiful Spec Ops armor, seen in the pics.

One last tantalizing quote should have some of the more rabid Halo fans at the edge of their seats:

"Personally, I like some of the higher tier stuff, but you’ll have to
wait a little while longer before you get up through the higher ranks.
We’ve also got a couple of other customization options that we’re
keeping under wraps for a little while longer, so don’t go thinking this
is the full slate. There’s more. You should get used to an over
abundance of awesome."

How many of you, like me, were disappointed upon discovering that you could only customize your armor in the Reach Beta as much as you could in Halo 3. How many of you also assumed that it was representative of the final product? Well, for those who did, you assumed too much. You needn't have panicked.

As seen in this image from Bungie's weekly update, there will be a lot more armor customization options in the final product. A lot more. The image is of the latest build of Reach's armory. Now, as can be seen, most of them are censored, but one isn't. Knee Guards. Clearly, Bungie is going into the little details.

This is a hilarious story.

A young Norwegian boy, Hans Jorgen Olsen, and his sister were strolling through the woods on day when they were attacked by a moose. At some point, an enraged moose charged his sister. Olsen said his first reaction was to taunt the moose, just like he learned in WoW. When the moose charged him, he pretended to play dead, just like a Night Elf Hunter.

"When you reach level 30, you learn a trick
called the fake death. That's what I did -- I pretended I was dead, and
then the moose lost interest," Olsen explained. "It went really well."

To put it plainly, I just don't see how one could work. My reasons:

The Flash is all about speed. His greatest power is supposed to be his ability to move near light-speed. How exactly are you supposed to portray that in a game? Moving at those speeds, it would be impossible to control the Flash with any kind of precision. You can't use trickery either, like slowing down the rest of the world while Flash moves at normal speed. It would work, but it just wouldn't be Flash. You wouldn't have that sense of speed.

Also, Flash's power. He has only one. If players had a choice, they would use it all the power. But how would the game be balanced then? And if they institute an energy meter, or something, it would just become a generic action game while the player waits for the meter to recharge.

Enemies are a huge problem as well. Because Flash moves at such high speeds, normal cannon fodder wouldn't be much of a challenge, unless the Flash's health is set extremely low, which wouldn't be fun, because you wouldn't feel like a superhero. Bosses wouldn't be much fun either, because unless they had some way of limiting Flash's power, the fights would be to easy. But if the Flash gets slowed down, it wouldn't feel like a Flash game.

One of the main draws of the Flash is his ability to to be done with several tasks before his enemies even think about drawing their weapons. I just don't see how that could be faithfully represented and balanced in-game.

I hope that the developers of the inevitable Flash game find some way to overcome these obstacles. I'd love to play one, but I just can't see how they would make it work.

Microsoft has revealed the official box-art for Halo: Reach. So, barring any drastic moves, this should be the box you get your cold, clammy hands on after you spent all day waiting in line for Gamestop's midnight launch.

Now, after seeing this masterpiece of art, it's even harder to wait until the game's release in fall.

Halo 2: A Final Farewell With Bungie

As most of you are aware of by now, Microsoft is shutting down the original Xbox Live servers on April 15th. While this won't affect many of you, there is still a rather sizable group of people that still go back and play those old games once in a while. Myself included.

Of course, the main drawback of losing the original Xbox Live in the first place is losing the ability to play Halo 2. From now on, the use of your downloaded maps will be limited to playing split-screen with friends.

While nothing will quite make up for its loss, Bungie is planning to send Halo 2 out with a bang. More details will be revealed at an unspecified later date, but the post on Bungie.net tells the community to "mark your calendars now - on April 14th let's all rally to go online for one
last hoorah. One final farewell and one final opportunity for all
of you to kick our asses at Halo 2."

Nothing else has been revealed, but at least we can destroy Bungie in a Halo 2 deathmatch one last time. It'll help take the pain away. Trust me.

Hope to see you there.

Several weapons have been announced for Halo Reach, with several others having their presence tacitly acknowledged. Over the next several weeks, we'll take a look at some of them.

First up is the DMR. Here are some screenshots, specs, and other general information you will have no use for until the game actually releases.

Presenting, the DMR, or Designated Marksman Rifle. This is Bungie's answer to the need for a Battle-Rifle in Halo: Reach, while at the same time placating the super fans that would balk at the defiling of the Halo mythos. Hey, if you read the books, the Battle Rifle was introduced after the Battle of Reach had concluded.

The official Bungie explanation of the weapon:

DMR:

The DMR (more formally the Designated Marksman Rifle, Caliber 7.62
mm, M392) is an air-cooled, gas-operated rifle firing 7.62x51mm
ammunition.

Although it saw more widespread use throughout all branches of the
UNSC prior to 2548, it has since been superseded in use by the BR55 in
all branches but the Army.

Fans will note that the BR55 is the official designation of the Battle Rifle, explaining why we don't see this weapon in other games.

This weapon has been described as a single-shot weapon. If you want a look as to see how it will handle during gameplay, just look at the original Halo 2 gameplay trailer. The Battle Rifle was single-shot in that appearance, and will will probably be more or less how the DMR handles.

The sound of the weapon firing and reloading can be found here http://www.bungie.net/images/games/reach/audio/DMR.mp3.

Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it?

SpiderMan Reboot: Pros and Cons

If you've been paying attention to the news lately, it was announced that Spiderman Trilogy director Sam Raimi and Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire have left Spiderman 4, leaving Sony Pictures to reboot the franchise. As with any reboot, there are two sides to the story, and we'll see what they could potentially do well and what they potentially could botch.

Pros

The original Spiderman movies were winding down, and it could be interesting to see a new take on the series.

The movies now don't have to resort to B-list villains like the Rhino to complete the roster.

We can forget the jazz scenes in Spiderman 3 ever happened.

In fact, we can forget Spiderman 3 ever happened.

A new version can finally do justice to Venom. The Venom in Spiderman 3 was more like Carnage than Venom.

It's also fun to see new costumes for the Green Goblin, and new takes on classic villains.

Cons

Word is, they're planning to make the new Spiderman "dark and gritty," which, arguably, could work, but probably shouldn't be done. In the comics, Spiderman was a light-hearted hero. Just because it worked for Batman doesn't mean it will work for Spiderman.

We'll probably have to sit through an origin story again.

The first Spiderman movies were well set-up, and it'll be hard for the new director to make the new ones great without it looking like a rehash or the movie becoming like the Fantastic 4 movie.

Top 3 Gaming Enemies

3. Cheaters

Unfortunately, most people have encountered these people at one time or another, especially on PC games. There is nothing more annoying than a guy who you put an entire round into only to see them pick you off with a headshot. They always seem to know where you are at all times, where you spawn. The worst part is that you know they're enjoying this, they're ruining your game, and that there is no practical way to stop them.

2. Lag

Lag is annoying because you know you shot that guy first, but his internet is faster than yours, so technically he shot first.

1. Bobby Kotick

I must say that, from a business standpoint, I respect Bobby's ability to generate money for Activision. That being said, it still doesn't make me dislike him anymore from a gamer's standpoint, as most of that money comes from us.

Note what he has said in the past:

"The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games."

"you know if it was left to me, I would raise the prices even further.”-On peripheral prices.

Among other things, he also said that he wanted to instill pessimism and fear into the hearts of Activision employess.

He also prefers putting out yearly titles with big names rather than innovate or at least improve those games.

It's a good thing that EA is still here to stop him from overtaking the entire game industry.

And that smile...Why is he always smiling...

Things That Annoy Me About Article Posting

I'm mostly annoyed with the people, not the actual site layout.

People who post "First" on articles. I really dislike this. Who cares if you are first? The sad thing is that this phenomenon isn't confined to kids and teens. The first "First!" I ever saw, I went to that guy's profile. And guess what? He was a dad of two, with a third on the way? What is wrong with you people?

People who post insignificant things on articles. Its okay if you do it only a few times, but mostly I've seen the same people over and over again who post nothing but "Cool" and "Hmmm..." as comments.

There are also those people who do nothing but bash the article's subject out of context. Why are you looking at Xbox news only to say that PS3 is better? And vice versa?

You know that zombie survival guide that everyone's reading nowadays? The one where it tell you to head north for colder weather? Well, forget everything it ever told you, because Left 4 Dead has its own ideas on how to survive the zombie outbreak.

Survivors: There are several easy ways to stay alive as survivors.

First off, it is better if you don't have regular, white-collar job. People with more interesting backgrounds such as con men, Vietnam vets, and bikers all tend to have a lower infection rate than others.

Weapon-wise, the only gun you'll ever need is the pistol. This is because, miraculously, you will always have infinite ammo. If you need another gun, don't bother wasting your money on it. There are guaranteed to be tables with powerful, military-grade guns on your way to safety.

Make exactly 3 friends with whom you can survive the apocalypse. Anything below means less chance of survival. Anymore than 3 and the spill-over will become zombies.

Zombies: And then there are those of you who will be infected. If infected, these tips will ensure that you make life as hard as possible for the survivors.

First off, if you are a member of the majority where you live, prepare for a life of hardship as a common zombie. Minorities are more likely to become special variants.

There is a way you can escape your fate though.

Special Infected

If you want to be a Smoker, then all you will need to do is start chain-smoking right away. The more the better. There's a higher chance if you've been a lifelong smoker. Also, work on strengthening those tongue muscles.

If you want to be a boomer, then all you have to be is a big fat guy. There's a higher likelihood if you cut your hair short and wear a blue shirt that doesn't quite fit.

Those aiming to be jockeys will need to be short, but have surprisingly long and strong arms. If you are balding and you wear short pants and sleeveless shirts, expect to become a jockey in short order.

The spitters of the zombie world will have been the foul-mouthed women of ours. Wear your head in pigtails and wear white clothing.

Hunters will find that they need to be fit. Wear a hoodie, preferably blue, with the hood pulled over your head. If you exhibited a stalker vibe in real life, you might want to consider being a hunter.

Chargers will most likely be minor league football players and those big people you see around that don't play sports. Wear coveralls if the above description fits you.

Tanks are the major league football player or the genuinely huge. That is why there are so few of them. If you took steroids, you will have a higher chance of being a tank. Wear some sturdy pants. You're gonna need them.

There are several ways to become a witch. It helps if you are depressed. My personal theory is that in real life, witches were prostitutes. They gained alot of STDs while doing their business. Then the STDs reacted with the zombie virus to create an abomination. That is why they wear skimpy clothing and are so sad. Of course, it's my personal theory. You may not agree.

In proof that judges are real people too (my parole officer is going to get me for that) and the drawing power of Modern Warfare 2, comes the story of a judge from the U.K.

The temptation to ditch work to play games is great, as those of you with jobs can testify. Even judges with 15 years of experience can be irresistably drawn to slaughtering terrorists online with an M16. In this story from the London Times, Jusice "Will" (not his real name, of course) stayed up so late playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that he had to call in sick the next day.

What this means for you is that you don't have to feel bad the next time you ditch work at Burger King to play that big game you bought at midnight. And if you were expected in court on November 11, I hope you spent your time leveling up to 70.
