This time around, I'm not going to focus so much on my opinions on sports, but rather my fantasy sports. If you've checked Reiner's MLB 2K10 blog, it'll be some what similar to that. Except not all on one blog, but instead split up into a few blogs a month, with updates and my thoughts of my team.

So, over at ESPN.com, I joined a free league named Albert4MVP. As I do for every team that I make, I named my squad The Brady Bunch. Quick explanation: My name is Brady. Anyways, I designed my logo and it ended up looking like this:

Now lets get down to business. Our draft type was an auction. Basically, everyone started off with 260 "dollars" and you bid on each individual player. Since our rosters hold all eight position players, a 1B/3B, a 2B/SS, a utility player, and two other outfielders, you can imagine how long this took. In addition to those thirteen players, our roster requires nine pitchers and three bench players. When you take into account that my league has 10 teams, this means there were 250 players auctioned off. Long story short, it took an obnoxious, and some what entertaining, two hours to draft.

I started things off with a terrible bang. You see, Facebook always has so much drama on the home page. And today in particular, a girl punched another girl in the face during school, and it knocked a tooth out. Naturally, the high school gossip monster shook within me and I was forced to read the post smack talk. I suppose this is why there are no owners in professional sports that are juniors in high school. Because of my useless gossip, I missed the entire first round of the draft.

Typically, this just means I'd get the best player available when it was my chance to select a player. However, because this was an auction draft, it's sort of like when you arrive on Ebay five seconds short of winning that limited edition Star Trek DVD you've been dying to get your hands on. Many of the top players of the league were gone by the time I arrived (Pujols, A-rod, Halladay, Hanley Ramirez, ect).

My next error really didn't seem like it was my fault. A picture of Joe Mauer shows up on my screen, and I have a surplus of money to spend. But the question is, who is being auctioned off? If you guessed Mauer like I did, you would have been wrong. Instead, the Texas Rangers' second baseman Ian Kinsler was on the board, and I payed twenty nine dollars for him. It's not that he wasn't a worthy player, but I really just wasn't looking for Kinsler at that price.

However, I did partially redeem myself the very next pick when I won the Joe Mauer sweepstakes for thirty dollars. Looking back at it, I'm relatively happy with my first two players. Still, it would have been nice to know what I was doing from the very start. The next few rounds for me were full of spending. Although I did find a few bargains such as Placido Polanco for five bucks, the round was chuck full of twenty dollar players such as C.C Sabathia, Justin Upton, Zack Greinke, Pablo "Kung Fu Panda" Sandoval, Felix Hernandez, Troy Tulowitzki and Ichiro.

Now, if you have any mathematical bone in your body, you must realize I burnt through the majority of my salary cap in a hurry. Quite frankly, I got caught up in the hunt for these top notch players. The rest of my draft was much less eventful, with a few players in the range of $5-$10, and a whole boat load of sub par players going for a dollar. My team is pretty good in my opinion, but if I could redo it, I should have calmed down in the first few rounds. This is my whole squad:

The Brady Bunch

C - Joe Mauer

1B - Paul Konerko

2B - Ian Kinsler

3B - Pablo Sandoval

SS - Troy Tulowitzki

OF - Justin Upton

OF - Ichiro Suzuki

OF - Nick Swisher

OF - Vernon Wells

OF - Delmon Young

Utility - Ryan Theriot

P - C.C Sabathia

P - Felix Hernandez

P - Zack Greinke

P - Tommy Hanson

P - Jorge De La Rosa

P - Phil Hughes

P - Mike Gonzalez

P - Joel Pinero

P - Octavio Dotel

Bench : C Yadier Molina, OF Willy Taveras, 3B Mark DeRosa.

I'm most likely going to try and ship Molina somewhere, and give up Taveras up to free agency and bring in the problem child, Milton Bradley. I think he can get the job done in Seattle, and it's not much of a risk for me.

So, here is my team. Thoughts, concerns, questions? Send them here, I'd love to hear anything anyone has to say. Don't agree with my moves or just feel like pointing out what I did wrong? Go ahead, let me know. And if by any chance you're a fantasy sports expert, send your tips this way!

There are a whole bunch of noobs that I can't stand.

There is no order what so ever.

The people that made the old site great aren't even around anymore.

Its impossible to read what half of these people are trying to say.

Some of the features that made the forums of old easy to use are long gone.

I can't jump to the nearest unread message yet.

Blade made the first helpful post of his life and people started saying "BLADE FOR MOD" (half kidding).

Nub still doesn't even have his freaking mod powers.

Look at my profile's comments. I mean, are you kidding me?

This new site set up is incredibly ugly. Sorry guys.

The point system doesn't work. I've had 541 points for a while now.

People spam like crazy. The worst thing ever might of been "The Person Above Me" thread. One sentence posts should result in a ban.

Newcomers can come here and make a thousand different threads and there is no penalty. Ban the idiots, or make it a rule that you need to have at least 100 posts before you can start a thread. I'd like to think thats a good idea, but there are plenty of people on here with 100 posts and STILL post like morons.

Blogs are cool. But having people post links to their blogs on your profile is frustrating.

The forums aren't the old forums. They seriously should have just left the entire forums of old and added everything else to it (blogs, podcasts, ect.).

I just don't enjoy my time coming here. How could I possibly like it going from something that was perfect in the old GIO, to this? I know this is the Beta still, but I've lost my patience with it. If it somehow gets better, let me know. My AIM name is TheBradyBunch216. If the forums ever turn into anything like the old ones, someone let me know.

Sports Blog #3

Welcome back sports fans! Its week three of my blog, and I'm starting to gain a little confidence in this. The blog quadrupled it's viewers which is fantastic. I'm hoping to gain even more interest this week, so another thanks to those reading. Again, I'm still in search for a name, so keep those suggestions in mind. Also, I'm going to continue doing these on Wednesdays, because it simply works better for my schedule.

Anyways, back to business. My predictions last week were decent. Lets start off with some baseball. The MLB Championship League Series are well on their way, and both the Yankees and Phillies have a commanding 3-1 leads on their opponents. The New York series is going the way that I thought it would, but the Dodgers just aren't doing what I believed they would. It is almost as if the Dodgers traded roles with Philadelphia, and instead of closing out games with their bullpen, they are getting shelled and blowing games. I'm still keeping my pick for the Dodgers to win it in seven, and also I think the Yankees will get the job done tomorrow night when AJ Burnett takes on John Lackey.

My football picks weren't the best I've ever made. The Vikings blew a huge lead against the Ravens, and would have lost if the fieldgoal from Steven Hauschka would have been good. However, my other upest pick turned out terrible, as the Seahawks were destroyed by the Arizona Cardinals.

Games Of The Week:

New York Giants vs. Arizona Cardinals

The New York Giants host those same Arizona Cardinals this week on Sunday Night Football, and it is set to be an offensive explosion. The Giants got roasted last week by Drew Brees and company, and although the Cardinals held the Seahawks in check, they haven't had a consistent pass defense all year. Look for Eli and Warner to go head to head in a passing shootout, with the Cardinals having the edge. If the Giants secondary was unable to stop Marques Colston, Jeremy Shockey and Lance Moore, why on Earth would they be able to stop a more talented bunch in Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Breaston? While I do think the Giants will be able to shutdown Tim Hightower, I don't think they stand a chance against Warner's aerial attack. Eli and the offense will do all they can against a sub par defense, but I don't think they will be able to match the explosive weapons of Arizona.

If The Giants are to have any shot at winning this game, C.C Brown and Kevin Dockery are going to wake up and realize a game is being played. Last week, Drew Brees exposed these two guys as a weak point in the defense. Warner will most likely attempt to do the same early on, and how they respond will set the tone of the entire game. Another key is Brandon Jacobs. The gigantic runner currently is being outplayed by Bradshaw, but the Giants need Jacobs to get going in the redzone eventually. If these three players can turn it around, I think the Giants can win the game. Again, I don't believe this will be the case and the Giants fans will be left frustrated with their defense for the second week in a row, as they miss Kenny Phillips and Aaron Ross.

Prediction: Arizona 37 - New York 34

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings

For the third straight week, the Vikings will be playing in another big game. I don't mean to bring this team up every week, but it seems that I have to. This week, the Vikings take a trip to Heinz Field to take on Big Ben and the Steelers. Both teams have something to prove, as the Steelers don't look like the same team that won the Super Bowl last year, while the Vikings are still looking to get that dominating big win, to prove to all the doubters that they are a force to be reckoned with. Ben Roethlisberger is the leading passer going into week seven, and Adrian Peterson is the leading rusher. Hines Ward is going to be catching the ball early and often, and the Vikings will have Favre spread the ball around like he has all season, getting Rice, Harvin and of course, Adrian Peterson, their touches. All season, both teams have gained tons of yards. However, the Steelers have been struggling to finish off teams all season long, and with the Vikings running game, I can't see how they're going to make a sudden change this week. Both teams are going to put up a good amount of points, but I'm taking the Vikings in another game that goes down to the wire.

Prediction: Vikings 30 - Steelers 24

NBA

The NBA regular season starts out on October 27th with the Boston Celtics heading to Cleveland to face King James and the Cavs. Later that same night, Kobe Bryant leads the Lakers to face Baron Davis and the Clippers. It is hard for myself to get excited for the season this year because I'm a New York Knicks fan, but I'll certainly try to cover the NBA and all of the big games occurring this year. I'm going to take the Cavs to win every single time at home, so I predict they'll win their season opener. Also, Kobe and company will completely annihilate the Clippers as they begin their quest to repeat.

Since the season is about to begin, I'm going to give my prediction for the NBA Finals. Everyone in the world, including Nike, thought this was going to happen last year, but I'm saying it is going to happen this year. The Los Angeles Lakers will play the the Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA Title. I think Shaq will be a fantastic addition for the Cavs, and that Ron Artest will be a better player for the Lakers then Trevor Ariza was. As for the winner? I'm going bold and picking the Cleveland Cavaliers. The season definitely should be a good one this year, and good luck to all!

College Football Game To Watch:

Last week was an amazing week for college football, and it may not be matched for a while. On paper, the best matchup would be #10 TCU vs #16 BYU. However, I'm saying watch the #3 Texas Longhorns play the Missouri Tigers. Texas is in prime position to make an appearance in the National Title Game. With Florida and Alabama both being in the SEC, they will eventually have to play one another if they both remain undefeated. This gives whoever the number three team is an opportunity to run the table and determine their own destiny. I'm putting Texas on upset alert however. They simply did not look as good as I thought they would against a banged up, overrated Oklahoma team. I'm picking the Tigers to make just enough big plays to beat the Longhorns, and also for Colt McCoy to continue to struggle to figure out an offensive identity for his team.

Prediction: Missouri 20 - #3 Texas 17

NFL Picks:

My upset pick was the Giants losing to the Cardinals. Another intriguing game is San Fran and Houston. Texas Tech star Michael Crabtree makes his NFL debut, and is actually projected to start over Josh Morgan. It'll be interesting to see how he is used in his first week against a defense prone to giving up passing yards. Here are the rest of my picks:

Colts @ Rams
49er's @ Texans
Chargers @ Chiefs
Packers @ Browns
Vikings @ Steelers
Patriots @ Tampa Bay - In England
Bills @ Panthers
Jets @ Raiders
Falcons @ Cowboys
Bears @ Bengals
Saints @ Dolphins
Cardinals @ Giants
Eagles @ Redskins

And In Case Anyone Was Wondering:

I'm not sure if this should be covered here, but I'm going to anyway. The WWE will air their first ever Bragging Rights pay per view. The main gimmick behind it is to have Raw compete against Smackdown in a 14 man tag team match. Here are my predictions (I know this is all rigged. Please don't comment saying that its fake. I'm well aware):

Smackdown Divas Michelle McCool, Natalya and Beth Phoenix vs. Raw Divas Melina, Kelly Kelly, and Gail Kim

John Morrison vs. The Miz

No DQ Iron Man Match For The WWE Championship - John Cena vs. Randy Orton

Fatal 4 Way for World Heavyweight Title:
CM Punk vs. Batista vs. Mysterio vs. Undertaker.

HHH, Shawn Michaels, Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger and Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho, Kane, JTG, Shad, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar

This is the best time to be a sports fan, so take advantage this week and be sure to plop yourself on the couch and watch a game or two. That's all I've got this week, and hopefully you read the blog next week. Again, I desperately need a name for this thing. Suggestions? Thanks.

Sports Blog #2

(Internet was down yesterday, so here I am today. I'm not about to rewrite the blog because there are a few changes. Most noteable, Randy Wolfe will not start the first game of the NLCS, but rather it will be Kerkshaw.)

Its week two of the blog ladies and gentlemen! Thanks to all eight of you who read the blog, it is very much appreciated. As always, feedback is greatly encouraged as I’m always wondering what the readers are thinking. I’ll consider any suggestions, as I did last week with Quasi who suggested the blog be posted on Tuesdays. It made a lot of sense, so here we are. Also, I’m looking to give the blog a name. Comment with what you think it should be called, and I’ll post a poll as soon as I hit the level necessary to do so! Now, with that in mind, we move on to the business at hand.

The American League and National League Divisional Series have come and gone, and most teams were swept clean. I’d like to send kudos out to the Colorado Rockies for being the only team to win a single game against a team with a better record. Not to say the other series were not competitive, because there were heroes in October such as Mark Teixeira, Vlad Guerrero, Alex Rodriguez and Matt Holliday (for the Dodgers that is). Regardless, the Angels, Yankees, Phillies and Dodgers rolled over their opponents and have earned themselves a bid to the ALCS and NLCS series, respectively.

Games of the Week:

National League Championship Series: Los Angeles Dodgers versus Philadelphia Phillies

The Dodgers host the Phillies starting on Thursday night on when L.A plans to send out former Phillie Randy Wolf to take on the young left handed stud from last year’s post season, Cole Hamels. Joe Torre looks to keep his youthful bats hot, and also hopes that Manny continues to be Manny. In addition to that, if the Dodgers are to beat the Phillies, the Dodgers are going to need Jonathan Broxton and Jeff Weavers to be consistently good coming out of the pen, and for 21 year old Clayton Kershaw and four year man Chad Billingsley to keep the Phillies bats in check. With no true ace of the staff, the Dodgers need to have a complete pitching staff if they are to pose a threat in this series.

However, I don’t anticipate the Phillies rolling over for the Dodgers. Any lineup with Jimmy Rollins, Jason Werth, Ryan Howard, and Chase Utley has a shot at of taking a series, regardless of who is on the mound. The offense has never been the problem for this specific team, however. If the Phillies are going to win this series and advance to the World Series, it is going to be because their bullpen somehow managed to pull it together and save games for them. However, I don’t anticipate this happening. I think the Phillies will be able to hit the Dodgers, but I can’t see Brad Lidge finding his composure when it matters the most, and the bullpen just does not have enough depth at this point. The Dodgers have been getting timely hitting from Andre Ethier all year, and I don’t expect it to slow down now.

Prediction: Dodgers win in 7 games.

American League Championship Series:

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim versus New York Yankees

The Bronx Bombers have returned to the ALCS for the first time since their devastating loss to the Boston Red Sox in 2004. They are set to host the Angels in the New Yankee Stadium on Friday night, as C.C Sabathia faces off against John Lackey in a battle of the aces. The Yankees have not had much success against the Angels as of late, but in October, anything can change. The Yankees have their three starters pitching exactly the way they hoped, and if they decide to go with a three man rotation for the series, they still have the bridge of Chamberlain and Hughes to get to Rivera. Not only that, but there is one big difference in this series that the Yankees are not used to in October. That difference is Alex Rodriguez. He has had clutch hit after clutch hit thus far, and I don’t expect him to slow down now. Not only that, but I think Teixeira is going to absolutely destroy his old team. These two big hitters in this stacked lineup won’t even have all of the pressure on their shoulders. They’ve got Mr. November Derek Jeter, veteran catcher Jorge Posada, and Johnny Damon to support them.

In all honesty, I may be a bit (or extremely) biased in this series. But I’m picking the Yankees to win the series in five games, as they will get their hits off of Lackey, Kazmir, and Weaver with their potent offense. I also think the Yankees are going to win the series with their dominating pitching, keeping off those speedy guys on the base paths. There is a lot of talk if C.C would be able to pitch a game seven, but I don’t think it’ll be necessary.

College Football Game To Watch:

#25 Notre Dame versus #6 USC

The Fighting Irish will host the Trojans in South Bend this Saturday at 3:30. I personally think that this will determine how long Charlie Weis will remain head coach of his football team. Jimmy Clausen has pressure on him as well, as not only is he facing a rival team that he has never beaten before, but a strong showing could make the junior quarterback a legitimate hopeful for the Heisman Trophy. Another key factor will be if the Irish are able to play some defense this week. Notre Dame will have to decide to make an effort in stopping the Trojan’s running game, and force Matt Barkley to win the game by himself. If they can win the turnover battle and make stops against the run, I think they can win the game. Unfortunately, despite great games offensively from Clausen, Golden Tate and Armando Allen, I’m predicting a victory for true freshman Matt Barkley. The Notre Dame defensive has been abysmal so far this year, getting torched by teams such as Michigan, Michigan State, and even Washington to an extent. Look for a complete shoot out this week between the two teams, but I think the Trojans will just be able to score more often on the Irish defense. The game will be closer then what most experts will predict, but the Irish will defense is just that bad.

Prediction: Notre Dame 38 vs. USC 44.

NFL Week 6 Picks:
Getting right down to business, and not boasting about accurately picking the Broncos to beat the Patriots (Oh yeah, I guess I did!) here are my picks. My two upset picks this week are the Baltimore Ravens to defeat Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings, and also I’m taking the Seahawks to beat the Cardinals.

Rams @ Jaguars

Ravens @ Vikings

Lions @ Packers

Texans @ Bengals

Browns @ Steelers

Chiefs @ Redskins

Panthers @ Buccaneers

Giants @ Saints

Cardinals @ Seahawks

Eagles @ Raiders

Bills @ Jets

Titans @ Patriots

Bears @ Falcons

Broncos @ Chargers

Let me elaborate on my two upset picks. I think the Ravens defense is going to make that #4 guy look like an old geezer, and force him into making many mistakes. I still think Brett Favre is going to help the Vikings as a team in the long run, but that Ravens defense is going to come out bitter and nasty after blowing the lead against the Bengals last week. I'm predicting the Ravens to dominate the game and hand the Vikings their first loss of the season.

As for the Cardinals losing to the Seahawks, its just a hunch I have. Look for the passing game to continue to be strong from Matt Hasselbeck connecting with a few of his weapons, inlcuding John Carlson, TJ Houshmandzadeh and Nate Burleson. Seatle routed the Jaguars defense last week, and I'm anticipating much of the same this week.

And In Case anyone was wondering:

It is hockey season already, and the Rangers are tied for first with the Pittsburgh Penguins right now, with both teams having ten points, and a record of 5-1. I’m going bold here, and picking the New York Rangers to end up in first place in the Atlantic Conference. I just have a good feeling in Henrik Lundqvist, Sean Avery, and Ryan Callahan leading the team to the post season this year.

That’s it for this week. Let me know what you think, and check back next Tuesday for more sports here on Game Informer Online. Again, suggestions for a name and any feedback you want to give are great. Thanks!

Sports Predictions: October 5th to October 11th

This week is sure to be a fantastic week in sports. This is truly the best time to be a sports fan with the NFL, College Football, and NHL seasons all getting extremely interesting, and with the MLB post season just getting started. There are sure to be many memorable moments this week alone, starting off tonight.

Game Of The Week:

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers look to march into the Metrodome to embarrass Bret Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. If the Packers are to have any chance of winning this game, they are certainly going to attempt to put a leash on the former soon and star running back, Adrian Peterson. This will prove to be awfully difficult for the Packers to do, especially in their new 3-4 defensive this year under coach Mike McCarthy. It will be up to the play of linebackers such as Nick Barnett and AJ Hawk to contain the Vikings running game.

If the Packers are successful in stopping A.P, this would force that guy, you know, #4, to beat his former team. Despite the speedy and explosive Percy Harvin and quick Bernard Berrian, the veteran defensive backs Al Harris and Charles Woodson have the advantage, and should know how to force Favre into making mistakes.

Prediction: I simply don't think the Packers defense gets the job done tonight. The Vikings are going to be able to run the ball up and down on the lackluster run defense, which will then allow Favre to throw the ball down field and make plays on the play action pass.

Final Score:

Green Bay 20 - Vikings 31

Twins v.s Tigers @ The Metrodome:

In addition to this great Minnesota game, there is actually another one that is far more important, but the emotional story line just is not there. The Minnesota Twins look to steal the A.L Central from the Detroit Tigers, in this one game post season game, where the winner will go on to play the New York Yankees in the ALDS.

The Twins will send out Scott Baker on the mound to take on the Tiger's rookie, Rick Porcello. Both teams are clearly evenly matched, but I'm going to give the edge to the Twins. The team is on fire and are on the verge of making history. Look for the Twins to take advantage of the young gun early and often. The hot bats of Joe Mauer and Jason Kuble will lead the charge, and solid pitching will allow Nathan to come in for the ninth inning and save the game, clinching the post season birth.

NFL Picks:

Games listed below with times, TV channel, and more. And of course, my picks are there highlighted. There are a few close games, and I have two upset games of the week to keep an eye out. I'm taking the Washington Redskins over the Carolina Panthers, due to a strong showing from Jason Campbell and a returning Clinton Portis. Also, give me the Denver Broncos over the New England Patriots, as I was extremely impressed with the Bronco defense last week over Dallas. With Brandon Marshall finally getting back into the mix, and this new found defense, I'm looking for the Broncos to take a huge step, proving they are legitimate this year.

Thats it for this week. Keep in mind, I'm brand new to this blogging thing. I plan to update the blog every Monday year round, with the different sports and games highlighted each week. Any feedback would be really appreciated, and suggestions are also welcome. There are a lot of fantastic games to watch this week, so make sure you save some time to sit back, relax, drink a cold one and watch the game of your choice.

Myself and many other users are unsure of how we feel about it yet. The old forums had such a unified community that we're all probably a little scared that things won't be the same here. But I'm pretty confident we'll all stick around, and if someone doesn't, they'll honestly just be lost and forgotten in the switch over.

I don't know how often I'll actually blog, or if I'm even doing this correctly. I don't really need to have an online diary, so if you are reading this, don't expect to see this kind of thing typically. Just as the first day, I figured I should jot down my thoughts on it and test the blog feature out.

So thats it, really. We have made it over to the new world. Congrats everyone, now lets fill these forums up with quality, well thought out posts.
