The lights are on

I've had an
interest in Heavy Rain ever since the first preview I saw in Game Informer
magazine way back when. That one picture of a woman pointing a gun while crying.
I don't remember what issue that was, but it was a while back. The preview was
mostly showing off the next gen graphics at the time. The graphics of that one
screenshot looked amazing and I enjoyed reading the preview. What the game is...heavy on story? Sign me up!
I love games
that are story driven. You can thank the Metal Gear series for that. Whether or
not Heavy Rain's story is worth my time or not I wouldn't know. I've kept
myself from any spoilers about the game. No youtube videos and I stay away from
threads about the game in forums. Hopefully, writing this blog doesn't backfire
on me with a spoiler filled comment *wink wink*. I did play through the demo
however which I liked. The graphics looked good and I really wanted to know
what the heck was going on with the story. The gameplay was interesting, but I
know you don't play this for the gameplay. It's all about the story.
But you see
this is why I never bought the game when it first released and really that's
why I still haven't purchased it. There was absolutely no way I was going to
buy this game at $60. In my head I have this set price for how much I would pay
for any game. Same goes for everything else I would buy in life and everyone is
like this. There are people who looked at Heavy Rain and thought $60 was a fair
deal. Nothing wrong with that, but I just couldn't do it. But a game like
Skyrim comes around and $60 feels like a steal.
been over two years since Heavy Rain released and I still haven't purchased it.
Why? Because every store I go to the game is listed at $30. I still can't do
it. I know I could probably get the game cheaper online somewhere, but I just
don't like buying things online. What I'm trying to say is I'm cheap when it
comes to certain games and I'm terrified of being scammed on the internet. Sure
I could rent it, but I only rent games that I'm not sure I want or not. I want
Heavy Rain and I want to take my time with it.
price in my head that I would pay for Heavy Rain is $20 and I have been waiting
for two years for the game to get to that price. I'm starting to wonder if it's
going to happen. I was going through the same thing with Infamous. I wanted the
game, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay the $30 for it. The only reason I
have played Infamous is because of the two free games deal Sony made after the
PS3 hacking fiasco happened.
something about PS3 exclusives where they hit that $30 mark and then they just
stay there for a really long time that I don't know about? I usually end up
laughing at myself every time I think about this. Every time I go into the
store I pick Heavy Rain up, look at it, then look at the price and I just can't
pull the trigger. I know the price is just $10 more from what I want it to be,
but I just can't do it.
Am I the only one that's like this? What are some games you guys want, but can't bring yourself to pay the money for?
