One of my favorite blog series I post monthly is the Guess that Game feature. Many of you have participated in it, but if you haven't checked it out, it is essentially a video game inspired game of 20 questions. Well, earlier today I decided I was going to do something similar, but instead of having you read a bunch of clues and trying to guess a game, I thought I'd just post some video game quotes and see if you all can guess the character who said it, and the game they're from.

At first look, it would appear I forgot to include the answers. Alas, they are there. I use the same trick with the Guess that Game feature.

The answers are there, however the font is white so the text appears invisible. In order to view the answer, all you have to do is highlight the text by clicking and holding the cursor on the text and dragging the cursor over each clue. This is an extremely easy process that most of you are undoubtedly familiar with. Oh, as a reminder - if you're viewing the GI website with the lights off, obviously this isn't going to work since the font color is reversed. I recommend turning the lights on when viewing this blog.

So, why video game quotes?

The truth is, I absolutely love video game quotes. When I first started blog herding a few years back, I ended every single episode with a different video game quote. Perhaps it's the writer in me or maybe the gamer in me...

You don't really think about it, but our video game characters "speak" some fascinating lines of dialogue. It helps us get to know the character and develop a relationship with them. But when you think about it...that character didn't really voice those lines, obviously. That means a writer or video game developer or some other human component created every line of dialogue.

When you think about some of the quotes that everybody is familiar with - from "But our princess is in another castle" to "The cake is a lie"...we associate these phrases with a particular game. They invoke this alternate sense of reality and have meaning to us. I'm fascinated by that. I just love video game quotes.

I randomly picked 25 quotes from some of my favorite games. You know what to do now, so get to stepping. Or should I say, get to guessing.
