Gaming Heads Blows My Mind…

I saw an announcement on Twitter earlier today mentioning the Engineer figure from Team Fortress 2 was now available at Gaming Heads. I wasn't familiar with Gaming Heads and I don't buy a lot of video game merchandise, but this is Team Fortress 2 we're talking about. So I naturally clicked the link to check it out. I shouldn't have.

I oh so shouldn't have (but I will share it with you all).

The Engineer figure is totally awesome. And I wouldn't mind having it, if it weren't for the price tag. It looks like an exact reproduction of the video game version. I should know, I've logged 150+ hours as the Engineer.

While snooping around the Gaming Heads website, I discovered there were five other Team Fortress 2 characters, including my favorite, the Medic.

Medic

Place of Origin: Stuttgart, Germany

Job: Doctor-Assisted Homicide

Motto: "Oktoberfest!"

What he lacks in compassion for the sick, respect for human dignity, and any sort of verifiable formal training in medicine, the Medic more than makes up for with a bottomless supply of giant needles and a trembling enthusiasm for plunging them into exposed flesh. Raised in Stuttgart, Germany during an era when the Hippocratic oath had been downgraded to an optional Hippocratic suggestion, the Medic considers healing a generally unintended side effect of satisfying his own morbid curiosity.

Statue Details:

Reliable Excavation (and) Demolition! This is the RED Medic version. We have used the actual game files to create the statue to make the definitive version of the Medic. He measures approximately 13 inches tall, including the base. Cast in high quality poly-stone, the statue is hand finished and hand painted to exacting standards.

I actually think the Engineer looks a lot better - especially since he includes all of his weapons and his sentry gun. The gold wrench is a nice touch. I remember blogging about that gold wrench.

Now I wouldn't waste a whole blog just to mention two TF2 statues...

But I would waste a blog to mention two TF2 statues, and some of the other fine products you can find at the website.

Oh wait, you're a fan of Fallout. What would you say to a 7-pack collection of Pip Boy bobbleheads? And if that's not up your alley, perhaps Skyrim is. There are some beautiful Skyrim models.

(I don't think the smoke / fog is included)

The truth is the website has quite a cast of figures from a whole collection of different games including Tomb Raider, Jak & Daxter, Portal, Half Life, Plants vs. Zombies...oh, the Plants vs. Zombies are really cool.

If any of you have purchased any of these and can offer some feedback on quality and value, I'd love to hear what you think (Mojo, I know you buy all sorts of statues). Most of these items cost several hundred dollars, so I have to wonder who is buying these and how many of them sell. Since most of these are limited in quantity, I'm guessing they sell out pretty quick and go up in value? Maybe, maybe not. Or if any of you would like to purchase one of these for me out of the kindness of your heart, I'll gladly accept it (I'm kidding - please don't really try and buy it for me).

I hesitate sharing the link with you all as you may be tempted to purchase one of these items and I don't want to feel responsible. I kid of course. These are beautiful works of art that preserve the integrity of the games they represent, and fans of these games will no doubt proudly display them.

If you could have Gaming Heads create a statue for a game they haven't done before, what game would you like to seem them do? I'm thinking a Mass Effect statue? I better start saving...
