I don't think I get grumpy very often...especially on a Saturday night when I'm moments away from a little Team Fortress 2 action (what can I say, I need a little mindless combat tonight, so TF2 gets the nod) but tonight I'm a little grumpy.
It's late. I'm tired. I leave for a business trip tomorrow. I'll be away from home all week...
AND there is yet another freaking first person shooter coming out that I want to play. Yeah...you guessed it, the new Call of Duty: Black Ops. I don't know if it is possible to choke on an excessive amount of any particular genre of game, but I think we're about to find out.
(On the bright side, this will be a short blog. Perhaps my shortest. At least that is my plan, but once I start on a rant, who knows how long it will run.)
I'm having a hard enough time buying and finding time to play the ones that have come out already...Add in the ones that are on the horizon and it gets even more complicated. Games like Metro 2033, which received a decent score from Game Informer, will never get my dollar. Not because I don't think it's worth it, but simply because there are TOO many games already out (MW2, BC2, Splinter Cell: Conviction) or coming out that I know I will want. Halo. Medal of Honor. Ghost Recon. Breach. (Should I go on, because I could).
I've read posts by others here who are also challenged with buying every new game that catches their interest. So I know I'm not alone.
Yes. I'll agree. The trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops looks impressive. There is no doubt about it. And yes, I'll probably end up buying it and sacrifice getting something else.
But a message to the game developers...Come on already. Enough is enough. At least give us a little bit of time in between games to enjoy those that have just come out before you drop something else on us. Something's gotta give...
Forget the the State of California vs. the Video Game Industry lawsuit on banning violent video games for kids...I think we need some legislation that says a game company can only release one game of a particular genre per year (of course I'm not serious - I don't want the government meddling in our gaming affairs, but sometimes I think it would take government intervention to tone this down a bit).
COD: Modern Warfare 2, the number 2 selling game of all time earning over $1.2 Billion (yes billion...b as in billion) is still as popular as ever. Do we really need a COD: Black Ops already?
Can't keep up...don't want to keep up...won't be able to keep up. Give it break already.Okay...my rant is over. Time to go get my Demoman on...
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Cheers.
