I am currently reading Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant. So far it's every bit as good as Gears of War: Aspho Fields, which I thought was fantastic and had some very moving chapters. I've played through both games and after reading the books, you really know and appreciate the characters so much more.

Gears of War was a pretty gritty and graphic game, as one might expect anytime there is a weapon that includes a chainsaw - but really, the story and characters are what did it for me.

So anyway, I knew there was a Gears of War 3 in the works but it had been a long time since I have heard anything on it, so I went poking around and found the following info. I don't know how accurate it is, but I'm thinking positive thoughts that this is still accurate.

In an article published about a week ago...

A "trusted US publishing source" has told website Edge the third chapter in the Gears of War series is set for release in April 2011. While still not officially announced by Microsoft, the first teaser trailer for Gears of War 3 is apparently coming as early as next month on April 8, with a full reveal set for June at this year's E3 in Los Angeles.

"Microsoft's keen to avoid a clash with Halo: Reach and wants Natal to own Christmas. That's why we won't be seeing Gears of War 3 until next year, but expect a major marketing push ahead of its release," the source said.

Yes. Good plan. Please do not release Halo: Reach and Gears of War 3 anywhere near one another. I couldn't take it. Too much pressure. Which one do I play? *Gasp*

A teaser trailer for Gears of War 3 in less than 2 weeks. Well hey...that would be fabulous. And lots of coverage at the next E3 in June. Well, that's even better.

I actually bought the first Gears of War again (after having traded it in) just to play through it all over again, now that I've read the books. Looks like I have until April 2011 to get through both 1 and 2 before the next one is here.

Is it too early to be excited now?
