1. An act or instance of selecting from a number of possibilities; to pick by preference:

Speaking of choices - we're going to have a bunch of them this year...

I don't know how many different video game genres there are. I know there are strategy games, both turn based and real time (ironically enough, called Real Time Strategy or RTS). There is the Role Playing Game (RPG) genre which often includes those that are of the Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) flavor. There are action and adventure games as well as simulations (both life and vehicle). Of course who could forget my personal favorite, the First Person Shooter (FPS) genre.

It's true, First Person Shooters are my favorite (especially military shooters)...and this year is making it very difficult to settle in and find a favorite one to devote my time on...because they're all good. Some better than others; none of them perfect. But overall, it's been Good Games all around.

Yep, it's been a great year...and we're not even through the first quarter yet. There is more FPS gaming goodness on the way. I'm going to be honest, while it's hard enough to get them all just from a financial perspective, it's even harder getting them all based on the amount of time needed to play through them all. This is made even more difficult if they include a solid single player component and a fun and addictive multiplayer side too.

Just taking into consideration a small sampling, think about the military themed First Person Shooters out or coming out this year...

Let's see...first we were treated with Modern Warfare 2. Check. Yep. Bought it. Yes, I know...it was released late last year, but I'm still playing it (from time to time) and I'm certainly not the only one. MW2 still has quite the following and I doubt that will stop anytime soon.

A couple of weeks ago we were treated to Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Check. Yep. Bought it. While it didn't have the opening night glitz glamour and fanfare that MW 2 had, it's sales seem to be fairly solid and the crowd playing it seems to be pretty large. I certainly haven't had any problems finding some online matches. The biggest problem I'm having is staying alive and getting through the SP missions. It can be somewhat difficult.

We also have Medal of Honor coming out this fall...

Operating directly under the National Command Authority, a relatively unknown entity of handpicked warriors are called on when the mission must not fail. They are the Tier 1 Operators.

Medal of Honor based in modern times...what WHAT!

While I'm not a big fan of WWII era games I've always loved the gritty and submersive feeling the Medal of Honor games have been able to achieve. From storming the beaches of Normandy to cautiously sneaking up behind a machine gun nest to avoid getting ripped to shreds, the games have always been amazing.

A Medal of Honor game based in modern times is a dream come true. The trailer and screen shots look promising. I may have drooled a bit looking at them.

Then of course, there is one my personal favorites - Ghost Recon. Specifically, Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Also slated to come out Fall of 2010. Ack. The same time as Medal of Honor. I've been an avid fan of the Ghost Recon series since the first one released way back in 2001. The only question is whether I get it for Xbox 360, PC or both. Survey says...both.

Is that too much gaming goodness in one year?

I don't know...ask me again...oh I dunno...around Christmas.
