The dreaded Writer's Block...

I think we've all experienced the dreaded writer's block from time to time. Those periodical moments in time when you just can't quite wrap your fingers on something to write or blog about. You whip out your pencil and paper and try to come up with an interesting story. Or sit on your computer staring blankly at the screen trying to figure out your subject for today's blog. Some days you can't even begin to type. You lose all focus and you find yourself without any ideas for a long while.

I for one can say that in both ways I have witnessed and experienced it.

I can't recall the last time I actually remember have a complete post with everything I wanted to say down and out of my brain. I wouldn't want to bore my readers with an extremely long post but I didn't want to leave them with a short one either. I wanted to get it perfect, but perfection is never possible.

I've tried to make my blogs and topics as interesting to my fellow gamers as possible but sometimes nothing makes sense. You publish something and find out know one is following your words and opinions. They leave comments like, " What ? " Or, " Are you sure it went like that ? Because I don't remember that happening. "

I can actual recall numerous times were in some of my favorite T.V. Shows even, I've witnessed the Writer's Block and Writer's Strike take a toll on the series.

Heroes

Probably one of my favorite shows of all - time, Heroes supplied the viewer with suspensful, mysterious, and full of action content. You followed the lives of people with abilities. Or supernatural powers which Dr. Mohinder Suresh has carried on from his father to believe that these people did exist.

Heroes appeared on NBC for four seasons from September 25, 2006 through February 8, 2010.

Four complete seasons aired, ending on February 8, 2010. The critically acclaimed series had a run of over 100 episodes and garnered an average of 14.3 million viewers in the United States, receiving the highest rating for an NBC drama premiere in five years.

Heroes ended sadly, due to the mass Writer's Block and Writer's Strike that went down in Sept. of 2010. The writers couldn't agree on a price and the executive writers couldn't agree and good enough content.

The Unit

The Unit was an American action-drama television series that focused on a top-secret military unit modeled after the real-life U.S. Army special operations unit commonly known as Delta Force. The series originally aired on CBS from March 7, 2006, to May 10, 2009.

The Unit features both the domestic lives of the team members and their missions abroad, in addition to the effects their careers have on their home lives, wives and girlfriends.

It premiered in the United States on March 7, 2006, on CBS as a mid-season replacement. The second season debuted on September 19, 2006. The third season started on September 25, 2007, with a hiatus occurring after the 11th episode due to 2007–08 Writers Guild of America strike. The show was picked up for a fourth season by CBS on May 12, 2008. The fourth season began on September 28, 2008, and concluded on May 10, 2009. On May 19, 2009, it was announced that, after four seasons and 69 episodes, the series had been canceled by CBS.

The 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike was a prepared strike by highly acclaimed writers for T.V. shows such as NBC, CBS, FOX, & Spike. The Writers Strike was also a feat due to the writers inability to write proper storyline for the T.V. shows of the time. They felt they weren't being payed enough and they couldn't get their content to format the way they wanted it too when being put into production..

How do I fix my writers block ? It's actually very simple. Just stay original. Don't go outside your boundaries unless you know for sure that you can handle what task your taking on. Leave certain topics for certain people. If you don't like sports don't talk about them !

Talk about what makes you happy or interested. If you research topics for a blog that you don't like your going to end up with extremely crappy work and upset readers, who more than likely may not stick around for another chance at failure on your part. If you are interested, everything will flow smoothly and you will make a great blog. Or a good write...

Have a good day everybody...

  • I havent seen any of those shows, but I have had writers block... And I will admit, It sucks. Great Blog though, I hope you have a nice day and I will talk to you later! See ya.
  • "If you don't like sports don't talk about them !" That is my quote of the day. I will use that sometime in class when talking to my students.
  • I remember watching the first episode of Heroes. Liked it, but lost interest after that. I know all too well how bad writer's block can be. I've been on fire in terms of writing lately, but before that I would go through constant periods of it.
  • Great blog, and very helpful. What I've started doing is writing out a small list of blog headlines or topics before actually writing. Usually no more than 5 actually. I keep my iPod Touch with me at all times and jot down ideas with the notepad. In this way, I'm sort of stockpiling blogs. LOL I never got around to following Heroes, but with Breaking Bad's season being over, I just might check it out.
  • The only advice I offer people for writer's block (even though it may not work for everyone) is write something no matter what.  What I mean is: if you want to write something, but you aren't doing so well at getting it on paper/typed, just write it and don't stop until you are done.  If it comes out like crap, then don't post it.  I find that sometimes making myself press on gets some great material.  Obviously, if you really don't want to write, then don't.  There is a clear difference in not knowing how to write something on your mind and not wanting to write.  I know that won't help everyone, but hopefully someone will consider that method, because it has done wonders for myself.

    Great blog.

  • Heroes was a favorite of mine. But then all went down. it was good, had to much potential. But it just went down. It was saddening.

  • I've had way too much experience with the dreaded Writer's Block. It really sucks, and it's hard to work your way through. It does take perseverance, but also sometimes sudden inspiration can wipe it all away.

    Those are the beautiful times.
  • Huh? Those two shows weren't cancelled because of writer's block, but a combination of the writer's strike and bad ratings/bad reviews in later seasons.

I agree though, writer's block sucks. Try out a little thing called Zen Writer. That's helped me a lot getting into the writing mood.

  • Ah yes, writer's block- the reason I can only churn out roughly ten blogs a month tops... >_>

On the other hand, interesting blog.

  • Nice blog!

  • Flippin legit stuff Scopes...
