Summer In Review 2012

Well, sadly, summer has come to an end. I'm starting school back soon and I'm sure some of you have already started back. So, I thought I'd do a little reflection of all I did gaming-wise and GIO wise this summer. Really, its just a bunch of stats and mini-reviews of all the games I completed, but oh well:

In Games

Games I got: 17. They were: Kingdom Hearts 3D, PixelJunk Eden, Shooter, Sidescroller 1&2, and Monsters, Driver San Francisco, Bastion, Age of Zombies, Outland, Infamous 2, Warhammer 40K Space Marine, Saints Row 2, Just Cause 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, LaraCroft and the Guardian of Light, Renegade Ops

Games I completed: 16

LittleBigPlanet (PS3)- Got this in the Spring, but never got into it. Decided to finish it for good this summer. Its slow to start off imo, but it gets alot better in the end. The community levels are great and so is the creation mode. 8.5/10

Professor Layton and the Last Specter (DS) Wrote a review on it here.

Metroid Prime 2 (Wii/Gamecube) I have the Metroid Prime Trilogy version of this game. I had this game for a while, but never could finish it. Then, like LittleBigPlanet, I decided to finish it. Not as goos as the first, but its filled with awesome music, boss fights, and worlds. 8.75/10

Wario Ware Inc. Mega Microgames (GBA) Had this as part of the 3DS ambassador program. The first Wario Ware game I had played it was pretty addicting and tested your reflexes pretty well. 7.75/10

Bastion (360) Bought this because of all the praise it got, and I don't regret it. It has an amazing story mixed in with tight, precise combat and even a hard moral choice at the end to make a great first game for Supergiant. 9.75/10

CoD World at War (360) My brother had this game. and one day I decided to try it out. Its not a terrible game, but Treyarch didn't do much to make it stick out from other WWII shooters. Still, the multiplayer and Nazi Zombies modes made up for it. 8/10

Jak 2 (PS2) Another game I had for a while, this game was SO hard for me. I don't know why. Still, I powered through the cheap deaths, enemies, and platforming to complete it. 7/10

Driver: San Francisco (360) My surprise hit of the summer, this game's clever gameplay and surprisingly good story made it pretty good in my book. 9/10

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (PC) I quit this game a couple of months ago due to the cheap deaths and lack of well placed checkpoints. Then when I discovered the way of quicksaving, I powered through it easily. Still, it severely dated. 6.5/10

DLC Quest (360) A funny indie game that shows what could happen if DLC takes a turn for the worst. Its really short (30 mins) but pretty funny too. 7.25/10

Age of Zombies (PS3) My favorite indie game of the summer, this is about a guy who gets sent to different periods in time, and has to fight off zombies in them. Sure the concept is bland, but the dialogue is some of the best I've heard, only second to Portal. 8/10

Orcs Must Die (360) This is my type of tower defense game. I like that you can set up traps to fight off enemies, but you can also fight yourself. The dialogue is funny to start out with, but the lines are overused alot. It didn't have me wanting to come back to play it, but whenever I did, I had a blast. 8.75/10

PixelJunk Sidescroller (PS3) This game is a fairly simpler shoot-em-up. It doesn't really do anything to differentiate itself from others. Its fun, but short and pretty unoriginal. 7.5/10

Dead Pixels (360) Another fun zombie indie game. This has you traveling down zombie-filled streets to reach 'salvation'. Its not very original, but pretty fun. 7/10

Lair of the Evildoer (360) Yet ANOTHER zombie indie game. This one is a little better with some cool weapons and a pretty good leveling system. 8.5/10

PixelJunk Eden (PS3) The last game I completed this summer, this one of my proudest. The first half of the game is pretty easy, but the last few levels really test you. The concept is pretty odd, you are collecting pollen to grow seeds to collect spectra that help you rebuild your Eden. But overall its a great game. 9.25/10

So, there you have it, all the info (sort of) of what I did this summer. Did you finish all of the games you wanted to complete?
