I Wish I Could Delete You....Sometimes

I wouldn't consider myself a perfectionist or a completionist, but there is one thing on my Xbox that aboslutely drives me nuts and I can't get rid of....achievements. I know I know..who wants to delete achievements? You worked your ass off to get them! Well, believe it or not I wish I could delete achievements.

I'm not saying I wish to delete all achievements, but on occasion I rent a game that I thought might be good or I was just too bored and didn't feel like playing anything else. I find out the game is awful, but alas it is too late..you have unlocked one achievement and are now doomed.

I will never finish these select games that I only unlocked one or 2 achievements for and it just sucks that I can't get rid of them. I would stop the game before I unlock an achievement, but you don't always know when the first achievement is going to be unlocked. It's not like I would be adding to my score by deleting them, but it would look a little cleaner.

Now I guess there is an up side to not being able to delete unlocked achievements..I will never accidentally delete achievements that I actually DO want to keep. I would feel heartbroken If I deleted my entire history of Oblivion achievements or all the Dragons Age achievements I unlocked. I won't ever have to worry about someone bringing their kids over and one of them deleting everything I worked my butt off for (not that I would EVER let that happen).

Anyway..thanks for listening GIO community, just felt like a little ranting! Please post comments and/or opinions! :)

  • Good blog. I experienced this yesterday when I got the Darksiders 60 minute trial on PS3. Little did I know, this installed the full game including trophies so now I have 0% in a game I more than likely wont play again.
  • I totally agree 100%. I though I might be the only one who wanted to delete certain games for various reasons. Like you said I wouldn't want to delete all my games just ones where I have 1 or 2 achievements. I have rented lots of games I didn't like so I stopped playing them. They should make it so you can delete games with 5 or 10 achievements, that way you wouldn't accidently delete games you worked hard on. They could even make a recovery system in case that did happen. Thanks for the blog, I don't feel so alone now
  • I actually don't mind having 1 or 2 achievements in a game, I've done that heaps and now I have like 500 points from games like that.
  • Well, not being a completionist I don't really care. Although, I would like my DLC trophies to be apart from the disc based part. Even though I have the platinum for Uncharted 2 it says I've only completed seventy percent of the trophies.
  • I thought you only had to play the game, I didn't realize you had to actually unlock a cheevo, I know for a fact on PS3, it only has to load up and you are doomed for eternity to have that 0%. I feel your pain, I feel your pain. I'm surprised you can't spend like 80 MSP to be able to delete one games worth of achievements!
  • Yes.... because of this, I will forever be stuck with a 2% for Lord of the Rings: Conquest. Woe is me.
  • I completely agree with this post. Praise it.
  • Good point. The fact that one can't remove them seems, well, strange. I don't recall if deleting game data on the PS3 removes trophies or not, though it should imo. In any event, I'm glad I'm not obsessed with achievements/trophies like SOME people are.  ;)

  • I totally agree! Especially on the PS3, where you are forever left with a 0%...  Maybe some day this will happen.
