I have been a big fan of Eminem and D12 since Eminem first came out. R.I.P. Proof.
I think in my opinion Kuniva is one of the artists in D12 who can hang with Eminem on a lyrical level.Just to set the record straight here is my numerical order of the members of D12 and from the first to last one as far as I like them and think of them and their skills and yes I think they under rated they dont get the credit they deserve because of the fact that Eminems popularity overshadows their skills. And just for peoples info I have heard rumblings that they are still going to do one more album in memory of Proof but I dont think their will be another D12 album after that, other than mixtapes.
1-Eminem
2-Kuniva
3-Swifty
4-Proof
5-Kon Artis aka Mr. Porter
6-Bizzarre ( he is great but says a lot of crazy stuff just to get a rise out of people which takes him to the bottom for me, but is good when not sayin the crazy stuff)
Now on to the review. I gave a few listens today and though I havent listened to the whole entire cd I can say it is pretty solid. I bought it through a link on Myspace. I just recieved it today. All in all it was well worth the purchase and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is a fan of D12 and Kuniva, not to mention it wasnt very expensive including shipping. I believe maybe 12 bucks There is some great production and guest appearances on it as well. Here is a few of the tracks that caught my attention so far that were stand outs.
The Intro yes the intro it was pretty heartfelt he touches on a lot of the hate the group has gotten since Proof passed.
Track 3: Ask about me- Avery good song with great production featuring a very well used sample from the movie Goodfellas and a nice sample by Jay-z.
Track 5: Gun game freestyle - A good free style
Track 6 :Diamonds and Gold- great production and chorus from Kon Artis aka Mr. Porter.
Track 8: Hurry up and buy- A very funny sample that will have people remembering what it was like when they walked into a asian owned store. Like in the movie Menace to Society which is where I believe they got the sample from.
Track 9: Think u Tuff- The name says it all solid song, good guest verse from Maestro as well, solid use of the sample from Boyz n the Hood movie where the black cop taunts them.( If Im not mistaken I could be wrong but it is from a 90's gangsta movie I have seen before, but pretty sure it was Boyz n the Hood)
Track 10: Die Young- more great production from Mr. Porter
Track 11: The same thing- good versus from Bizzarre and Kuniva
Track 13: Clyde the Glyde- track for all the smokers of green plants, great song.
Track 14: Strong Arming- This song is pretty hard too, him and one of the Fat Killas trade real decent verses. Good listen.
Track 16: Kill em All- Great verses from Swifty and Kunive and solid production.
Track 18: Just Thoughts
Track 19: Money Clip- As always another great guest appearance by another Detroit great Royce Da 5'9, they go pretty hard on this song.
Track 20: Rondells Beat Tape skit- Another funny skit from Kuniva's alter ego.
Well thats about as far as I got, but please do pick this up if you are a fan of D12 or any of the Aftermath artists, I dont think you will be disappointed. For the price of , maybe 12 dollars that included shipping it was well worth it. Enjoy.
As always feel free to drop a positive comment or spread hate it is welcome.
Didn't know he dropped an album. I'll check it out since last D12 mixtape wasn't bad.
Yeah it just released this month, I havent heard the D12 mixtape yet I need to check it out. A couple local rappers that I talk to opened up for them when they came to town and said the crowd was weak. Thats a shame seeing as how popular they are. I just think that it wasnt advertised right thats why the crowd wasnt real big.
Well Eminem is the main selling point to the public. Proof was lyrically the best in the group with Em so losing him is a massive blow. I do agree there still a good rap group but for the mass it's not marketable.
Naw Kuniva then swifty then proof. But yeah I see your point.
Well I like them all, just that if it wasn't Em's verse I thought was best on the song it was usually proofs *I actually like proof's more on purple pills, my band, and few more* but yeah I think there all good, shame.
I just got this ***. It was some of the best *** (at least recent) from kuniva. he killed that ***
Just read on d12world.com that Kuniva has a new mixtape coming out called "Midwest Marauder". I'm definitly checking that *** out cause Retribution was ill as ***.
Yeah just heard the news about the new mixtape coming soon myself. If money isnt an tight I will be picking it up myself he definitely killed it on Retribution. The skit Beat Tape with Eminem from Retribution is hilarious.
yeah that was funny as hell
