The lights are on
OMG! Level 15! - Level 15
Hello again everyone! ... If you haven't noticed, I'm not very good at opening blogs. So... on with the show, I guess?
Donkey Kong Country
Yay, Donkey Kong Country! This was one of, if not my very first video game. Everything was great about it! The music, the platforming, and the good times I spent playing it with my dad. Anytime I load up the game from Virtual Console, I get a nostalgic rush from those times.
This soundtrack is really close to my heart. That's why, when Nintendo announced what Retro was working on at E3... Well, I'm not ashamed to say I flipped the crap out.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
This soundtrack is great. It's the perfect score for such a vast and grand game such as Oblivion. Eventually, I believe you'll get sick of this theme if you play Oblivion for too long. Personally, I haven't, and I hope I never will.
Kingdom Hearts
Yep. I just made my friend JakandRatchet squeal with glee. (He loves Kingdom Hearts)
Through Kingdom Hearts's five games, (with more coming!) every soundtrack has been fantastic. The above song is called Simple and Clean and has noticed a few variations in its lifetime.
Personally, I enjoy the slower, remixed version from Birth By Sleep.
Another really cool song from Kingdom Hearts is the theme from Kingdom Hearts 2, called Passion.
This one is more likely to get you pumped to play the game than Simple and Clean, and it even has some backwards lyrics that tie into the story.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Took me long enough to get to this one, huh?
There are some extremely great songs coming from this one. I'll let them speak for themselves.
*Here's a cool little thing in the song that I never noticed; the song switches from speaker to speaker! I recommend wearing some headphones for the full effect. I guess this truly is the Windmill song!*
With such a diversity in tone and atmosphere, you're bound to find at least one song you like!
...That said, I might have went a little overboard with the Ocarina of Time songs, but hey, it's my favorite game and my favorite soundtrack.
Professor Layton
Ah, this song reminds me of a puzzle. This series's soundtracks really capture Professor Layton's character. He's a scholar, so he's sophisticated, just like the tracks in each of the game's soundtracks.
*Minor Spoilers*
The ending theme to Diabolical Box is really good too, but pretty sad.
If you haven't noticed, there's an accordian prevelant in most of the songs, which is fine by me. When played right, accordians can be awesome! (I'd also like to point to my last entry, which showed I was a Weird Al fan, thus biased towards accordians.)
Welp, we're at that point where I choose a Video Game themed song. What can it be?!
Critical Hit - No More Kings
This song is awesome! Thanks to Sean for showing it to me! Even the picture is great!
Alright, this isn't exactly "video game themed", but it is an extremely nerdy song based on the great-grandfather of all RPGs. If you couldn't guess by listening to the song, it's about Dungeons and Dragons, and other table-top RPGs.
Here, take a look at the lyrics and you can tell.
It's time to start the showWe got it under controlYou know our stats are goldAnd we're ready to rollTravel in pairsSlinking down stairsBut there's something waiting for usWe make a plan of attackWe're fighting back to backGonna have to stackA little slash-and-hackThey keep on dissing meFor low dexterityWait until they hear the chorus!Sooner or later the diceLand on the table, you knowThat's what fables are made of!Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit! This is a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hitIt's a critical, criticalHit!And now it's wall to wallWatching foes a-fallingBut it's time to pause'Cause Mother Nature's callingI'll be back in a secondAnd I'll continue the wreckin'And they will still be waiting for usAnd the pressure growsTo make a saving throwTo introduce some mood,We turn the lights down low.My armors exposedand getting full of holesI think I need another chorus!Sooner or later the diceLand on the table, you knowThat's what fables are made of!Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit! This is a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hitIt's a critical, criticalThat ain't how we rollOh, no it ain't stolenWe on a rollHey, we honor rolling. That ain't how we rollOh, no it ain't stolenWe on a rollHey, we honor rolling.Sooner or later the diceLand on the table, you knowThat's what fables are made of!Oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit! This is a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man, double damage)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hitIt's a critical, criticalEverybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit!Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit! This is a critical hit!Oh yeah! It's a critical hit!Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hitIt's a critical, criticalEverybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hit! This is a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Oh yeah! It's a critical hit!(My main man did double damage with it)Everybody sing oh yeah! It's a critical hitIt's a critical, critical
Now you get it, eh? You guys aren't made, are you? ... Guys?
Hey, that's not allowed in a Soundtrack blog!
Yeah yeah, I know, this is a soundtrack blog, but I really wanted to share something, but didn't want to make an entirely new blog post or even a forum post to ecknowledge it.
I won something!
If you follow me on Twitter, you've likely already seen this. It's a model kit of a 10 inch Mega Man figurine. I won it from Gametrailers TV. I'm extremely happy about it personally, but...
The directions to put it together are in japanese... I think I can possibly figure out how to put it together by either an online translation or guide, but it'll likely be awhile. I'll post a picture if I ever get it finished though!
Heck, I even got a funny response from GTTV on Twitter.
Yeah, the Kingdom Hearts and Professor Layton soundtracks are pretty awesome! Great picks.
