What's Happening

Playstation Making A Comeback.

With PSN releasing all the greatest Playstation One games as digital downloads, it makes me glad I kept up my collection all these years. Games that haven't made it out to the PSN yet like the Lunar games, Xenogears, and even my old playstation copy of Final Fantasy tactics. Not to mention Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve and Resident Evil 2. I personally am pleased that I kept up with all those games because it seems that as the PS3 base grows they are focusing more on the past and less on getting all the new exclusives. And ironically that seems to be fine with Sony fans. Most of what I hear when I start talking about the PS3 is that everyone is waiting for either an emulator for the systems that lost backwards-compatibility, or PS2 games to come to the PSN so they can enjoy their favorite games of the past couple of years. All I can say is that for me this is a dream come true as my childhood in gaming is coming back to the next generation and closing that gap that separates us. Bravo for all the corporations and developers who are pushing for this renaissance of gaming that is taking us forward while building on gamings roots. Bravo indeed!

  • I agree with you. It is nice when developers bring back parts of your childhood with games.

  • I totally agree, it would be great to have some older games to try again.

  • I think that older games are usually as good if not better... I have a super nintendo.

  • i think that while it is a good idea, it i pretty pathetic. i mean, if i have a game,do i REALLY want to PAY FOR IT, AGAIN?

  • I will never understand why Sony stopped making their PS3s backwards compatible.  That was one of the big reasons i chose to buy a 360 instead, and of course the price.  I still play games on my PS1 regularly, there is no substitute for a great storyline, none.  Same with movies, thats the reason The Godfarther is a timeless classic and Transformers is not.  But kudos to Sony for doing the whole SPN thing and trying to rectify a massive mistake.  But shame on them for making people spend more of their hard earned cash on things they already have.  So i guess Kud-ame is in order?

  • But thats just it. If you have it chances are you dont have to buy it again because you have either a PS1 or a PS2 that still works. Or in my case invested in the original backward-compatible PS3. Rumor I've heard says that all PS3s are PS1 compatible anyway. Best way to find out is to try that old Twisted Metal game you know you have lying around and see if it works. lol

  • Mod

Yes, all PS3s have PS1 compatibility.  I've got a 40 GB model and I can attest that they still work.

  • Dude my ps3 is ps1 compatible i play persona on it and

some others games.  And yes I want lunar silver star

Where I lost it :( well I may go and buy it again...

  • Its all good that we get old games but bring new exclusive games! After FFVIII and FFIX lol

  • I agree that it is time Sony got more exclusives or at least better treatment in the exclusive for version department. *Arkham Asylum anybody* But I honestly am happier getting my old games back, especially since in a lot of cases they are revamping things like the graphics, and in some cases adding new features. All of this pleases me and makes me happy with the fact that at least Sony is listening a little bit to their fan base.

  • I still think it would be cool though if they somehow got playstation trophies onto the PS1 Classics.

  • Definitely. Awesome Idea we should take to Sony.

  • I mean I understand it might be hard, but look we have trophies on God of War 1 and 2 now so why not try classics right. Oratleast the major games.
